we might get the national #1 seed - the first time in our history

tulane & ull have already done this!

Good pitching beats good hitting all day, every day.

LSU doesn't have any weaknesses in the lineup though and adjustments are a strong suit.

If Bain can continue his good pitching, we're in good shape.

Can you upvote your own post? Gotta be the only way you have an upvote on this. Terrible post is terrible.

Lange had 2 starts in a row where he wasn't his best. All other starts he has been absolute money. And didn't we win both games in which he had below par starts?

ULL has only been a national seed once...#6 in 2014. In 2000 they beat #1 USCe to make it to Omaha. Maybe that is what you are thinking about?

This team is very good. Closing isn't what it used to be but it's been good enough to win 9 out of 10 series in the SEC and win a conference championship.

Of course in baseball anything can happen. We've seen the teams like Stoney Brook and Houston come in hot and play well, but I feel this team makes it to Omaha for sure.

Which would be great for me considering I live 80 miles away from TD Ameritrade

Poche has been overextended a few times IMO
For no good reason, too. This is one of the few criticisms I have of CPM. When he had Poche throw 125 a couple of weeks ago I was baffled.

If there was this mythical team that had 2 1st round pitchers, wouldn't that team be ranked #1?

The name of that mythical team is "Vanderbilt". And no, they would not be ranked number one.

I think in '10 the problem was an injured Renaudo and a finished Ott. Put those two back to '09 level and '10 LSU likely hosts a regional and possibly a Super.

We are #1 in the best conference in America in ERA and team batting average. Yes crazy things can happen in regionals or super regionals but I wouldn't be near as worried as you are about this team. If Bain keeps looking like he did against Missouri and south Carolina then we do have at least 2 very good pitchers.

We have a lot of arms...good, but not great as in the Nola's of the world. Lang could get there, but he's not there yet.... he's only a freshman. That said, we have a very good hitting lineup with speed. I don't see many teams coming into BR and beating us, but it's baseball. Get to Omaha, and let's see what happens.

was bigger than just Ranaudo and Ott. Our entire pitching rotation and bullpen was a mess. Our team ERA was over 5 IIRC.

I know LSU is #1 in the land and all that.. but I'm still not sold on that.

Who gives a shite on what you think?

LSU is #1 in the Nation
46-9 Overall Record is the best in the Nation
21-8 in SEC making them the SEC CHAMPIONS and SEC WEST CHAMPIONS
16-4 against teams with RPI in top 50

Tough? Lol

quote:

LSU has to hit to win. Outside of Lange, they don't have a shut-down pitcher, IMO

ERA - 11th in Nation, SEC Leader

Jesse Stallings, 1.84 ERA, 12 Saves
Hunter Newman, 30.1 IP, 0.59 ERA, 28 K, 4 SV
Parker Bugg, 32 IP, 1.97 ERA, 31 K, SV
Zac Person, 26.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 30 K

Nah, you're right, we only have one good pitcher.

quote:

Poche is ok, but he ain't dominant. Lange can be dominant but he's been inconsistent. So, I don't think we can count on shutting other teams down offensively.. we are going to have to hit and can we hit, great pitching two days straight?

Alex Lange

2.11 ERA, 81 IP, 10-0, 91 K, 31 BB, Opp BA .208

2nd in SEC in ERA
3rd in SEC in Hits Allowed per 9 IP
2nd in SEC in Strikeouts
6th in SEC in Strikeouts per 9 IP
7th in Nation in Wins

I think you are right, that isn't consistent at all. Too many numbers are up and down for me. I mean, 10 wins in 13 app? That isn't consistent at all. Too many issues for us to count on this guy anymore. Time to end the season and everyone just go home.

So who's better. Obviously you've watched a lot of college baseball this year. Who are the teams better than LSU?
