I am looking to go to Omaha this year but have never been. Are there any recommendations on hotels or areas to stay? I looked for tickets on stubhub and they are pretty high for all sessions. Can you get tickets outside of the stadium-or how does one go about getting tickets for LSU games. Any help is greatly appreciated. I live in West Texas so I don't have access to people who have been. Thanks.

tickets: you can get general admission outfield tickets with no problem.

where to stay: we stay in Council Bluffs, IA which is across the river (less than a 5 min ride)

you will be able to find tickets there. the first weekend is kinda packed, but after that, people cant give tickets away. all hotels are pretty nice. and dont go to Iowa, it sucks

Tickets don't officially go on sale until April.

If they use the same hotel as last year, the Embassy Suites is the team hotel. We stayed there this past year and it was pretty cool interacting with the players there. Pretty steep, though. Rooms were just under $400/noght ($375, I think), but most of the hotels near Rosenblatt were about the same speed.

On tickets, GA tix are available at face value, but I personally prefer getting reserved seats. The GA seats are first come, first served, and the lines to get in were pretty crazy, especially for LSU games.

As for bars, Barrett's Barleycorn (of course), and we really like Upstream Brewery as well.

Where or how do you get reserved seats and do you have to buy them for all games or can you get them for individual games?

The best way to get guaranteed seats is through online sites like Ticket Express. Yes, you may end up paying more but then again you can wait around and not get a seat too. I never risk it and pay a little more.

general admission tickets are easy to get,

but what they dont tell u is that u have to wait in line all day to see LSU play to assure a spot in the bleachers

we got reserved seats for all three games while there and never paid over face value. They aren't hard to find for the championship weekend if you spend a little time searching.

ETA: we bought them outside the stadium too.

i don't know how it is for games prior to the chanpionship series, but for the three against texas, some of my friends did line up early and ran in for the front row. After the first wave of people the bleachers were about 1/3 to 1/2 full and people trickled in. the next two games virtually no one waited in line.

i guess what i'm trying to say is: you can ge there at any time and get in, but don't expect to walk in at the last min and get the best seat in the outfield...

So do you buy tickets for the entire tournament ahead of time and try to sell non-LSU tickets or do you take a chance and buy reserved tickets at Omaha as the tournament plays out?

I don't know about all that. Its chancey. I have been for about 8 years now and some games get sold out. I think the last two games of the Championship series last year was an aberration because the heat kept people away. You are driving all the way from Abilene you want to make sure you can see the game.

They won't know who is playing what games until the week before. So, the tickets that go on sale in April for Game 1, Game 2 etc are obviously unknown opponents.

i'm just telling it like i saw it. i mean, if they didn't max out with the two fanatical fan-bases that were in it last year, i highly doubt they ever will. i mean, maybe if nebraska was in it.

I hear you. I was surprised myself. I paid about $90 for my ticket on Monday (the extremely hot one) and I didn't plan on going to another. I kept watching the websites as the game got closer on Wed and tickets kept going down and down until they were basically face value and so I went.
But then again, I tried to go to a midweek game against USC in 2000 and there wasn't a ticket to be had at the stadium.

see, i figured this would be the case for the first four days because the people that are there are going to go to the games. as i'm sure you can attest to, there ain't that much to do up there.

(we did go to Lincoln and took a tour of Neb's facilities. very nice)

One thing to keep in mind: it's the last year at Rosenblatt. I would expect the numbers to be up at least a little.
