People saying Lane can stay at Ole Miss and build what Saban built at Bama and what Kirby built at Georgia are off base.

Bama and UGA were powerhouses before Saban and Kirby. On top of that they have twice the resources as Ole Miss and are recruiting machines based on geography alone.

It would be idiotic for lane to decline the Bama job being Saban’s replacement.

There’s a lot of people who have let the ole miss transfer class delude them into thinking kiffin is building a powerhouse at Ole Miss.

He’s got a nice team in place for next year, but he’s depending on the portal because recruiting is lacking. Alabama is a much easier place to recruit, win, and has all kinds of backing. Kiffin would jet for that job in a heartbeat if offered.

Umm where have you been? As ridiculous as it seems, the OP wrote that because people have been slobbering all over OM. Their transfer class is good with a couple of mercenaries. Their recruiting class is terrible for the SEC. Media and this board have been crowning them

Not to mention the difference in facilities. Sure Ole Miss has upgraded a few things but they’re still way behind Bama.

I mean just look at this stadium. It’s a glorified Vandy.

Not meaning to make this a shite on ole miss thing but let’s just be real here. But hey maybe Lane decides to be their Jesus and continue building there. I just think the ceiling at Ole Miss is 11 to 12 wins and maybe 1 expanded playoff win.

Bama will go after Kirby Smart. That’s their first call.

I really don't think Lane wants to follow immediately after Saban. Especially with how well they are doing in the transfer portal and the guys he has coming back.

People saying Lane can build any program don’t have a clue what they are talking about and are just shite reacting because ole miss had one decent season (the same season would be considered a failure for LSU by these same morons). It’s not like Ole Miss really has an excuse to be as bad as they’ve been in the past. They’ve always had the benefit of SEC money and it’s not like they have high admissions standards like Vandy. Can the be a dynasty program? Not a chance. Should they have at least won the west by now? Absolutely. Their failures are their own fault, not because they “don’t have the resources”.

Lanning is very unproven. Might be a disaster. From LSU’s perspective, that would be great!

Seemed like Georgia hadn't won much in a while before Kirby

Literally nobody is saying this outside of the insane asylum. His best season at ole miss is a down year for bama or uga.

Richt was winning 10 every year but couldn’t get over the hump.

The playing field is being leveled… Bama will have a hard time, adding to it a national titles in this new landscape

There is no Coach outside of Kirby Smart who Bama would be "happy" with hiring after Saban but that isn't happening. Anyone they hire is going to pale in comparison to Saban. I would not be shocked if they somehow land on Urban Meyer. But Dabo and Kiffin are going to be candidates.

This. Alabama will try first and foremost to poach a proven commodity. Although he won’t leave, I think they’ll check with Kirby. Even though many Bama fans seem to have soured on him, Dabo probably gets called. The only way they go for a guy like Lanning is if they go mainly with Sabans recs. I could see him steering towards a young up and comer.
