Really? Quit listening to idiots. No on with any sense think Ole miss will become Bama.

It would be idiotic for lane to decline the Bama job being Saban’s replacement.
It depends on what Lane values. The 12 team playoff has now made it easier, for all coaches, to reach the playoffs. He very likely was never going to make a 4 team playoff at OM. 12? He might. And he's doing at a place where the expectation levels aren't insane. He goes 10-2 at OM and reaches the playoffs the boosters/fans want to build a statue of him. He goes 9-3 at Alabama and they will want him to be fired.
Quality of life matters. Lane is going to be a multi-millionaire whether he coaches at OM or Alabama. And the transfer rules have given schools like OM a different avenue to compete. No, OM is probably not going to sign HS classes equal to Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, etc. But now they can build a roster through "free agency" rather than completely through their "farm system".
He's probably one of the few HCs with an ego big enough to not worry about stepping into the shadow of a giant. But that doesn't mean he wants to.

He can and probably already has built the best level of talent Ole Miss has seen in 50 years. They won’t ever be a Bama level dynasty. They haven’t even made it to Atlanta and likely won’t with Texas and Oklahoma joining. But he is a great coach for an Ole Miss level school just how Mullen was at Miss St. The difference is that Kiffin has been a head coach at bigger schools and the NFL already and didn’t do well so he is humbled and knows he is better off coaching Ole Miss than Bama. Expectations aren’t the same there and he can last longer.
Whoever takes Bama will have nightmarish comparisons and expectations.

Yer not jes' woofin. Ole Miss has ONE SEC West Championship (2003) since 1963, ONE!!! Bama has innumerable football championships-- SEC West, SEC and national-- during the same period

LOLOLOL
The SEC will never rig games for Kiffin and especially Ole Miss. Kiffin knows this after what happened at UT during his short stint there.
You think the media would bend over backwards to change the annual narrative for Ole Miss?!?!? A borderline Tier 3 school?!?!?! You think the media would give Ole Miss four mulligans/narrative shifts?!?! LOLOLOLOLOL
Some of you crack me up. It is almost as if you pay no attention to a sport you claim to love.

Just want to suggest that the recruiting advantage Bama has enjoyed was Nick Saban, period. From ‘97-07 they only had 3 seasons of more than 7 wins. Same school, same commitment to FB but it all changed with one hire. We saw it in Baton Rouge. Whoever takes this job will have to fight for players. Can’t say “well when Nick was here!” TN, Aub and Flor recruiting variables just changed significantly.

Kirby played at Georgia and won 2 Nattys for HIS school, he ain’t moving west to Tuscaloosa

Well, Lane didn't leave on the best of terms from Alabama as an assistant.
and while he is definitely a talented coach, he hasn't done anything since leaving Bama to prove he's not an immature Douche.
I just don't see Alabama going that complete polar opposite of Saban right out the chute. His schtick likely wouldn't sit well in Tuscaloosa.

Lane gets WAY too many accolades for being an average coach.
