An LSU blogger said why bring in a JUCO to replace Ciron Black when you have two OL in Greg Shaw and Thomas Parsons already backing him up. The blogger says it's either to push Shaw and Parsons or the coaching staff may not be happy with their development.

What say you??

Parsons needs to gain some weight and Barksdale will be gone the year after Hardwick comes in. There are 2 tackle positions and depth is never a bad thing. This guy could be coming in to compete for a starting position or to be a back up. You never know what will happen, but he can say he will start at Left OT all he wants.

JUCO's can come in and really contribute....I don't see anything wrong with it.

I say we need depth and he provides that. And if he can't play LT as well as Shaw, maybe he can play guard better than someone else.

Hell, I've been thinking we might even move Barksdale to LT next year due to his experience at RT. The transition wouldn't be easy but it would make him a hell of a lot of money if he was successful with the change because being able to play both is a huge plus for teams drafting.

We need depth, plain and simple. This isn't an indictment about who's on the current roster.

IMO, Parsons is a RT or guard

staff may feel that Shaw isnt ready

too bad the kid from belle Glades had too little patience

I agree that Parsons could easily be a guard.

Who is behind them. There are two OT spots and eventually they will all likely play. Hardwick looks like a good pick up though.

I am also not completely sold on Hardwick becoming a LT. I have heard that Shaw has been very impressive, so why not stick Hardwick at LG and Shaw at LT, with Barksdale at RT next year?

a 6'7 350 lb. frame at LG similar to Herman J. would create a strong left side of the line and get Shaw the experience he needs to be a starter for the next few years.

I would presume the line next year could look something like:

C T-Bob Hebert
LG Jamarcus Hardwick
LT Greg Shaw
RG Will Blackwell
RT Joseph Barksdale

Thoughts?

Henry Orelus has his scholarship "pulled." He got sloppy his senior year and did not progress as the staff had wanted him to.

It was a mutual withdrawal similar to Willie Ferrell at LB.

I think he was asked to leave the team...not positive on that one though.

You don't think Barksdale will be moved to LT next year?

LT Joseph Barksdale
LG Josh Dworaczyk/Spencer/Lowe
C. T. Bob Hebert
RG Will Blackwell
RT Greg Shaw

I could see Clay Spencer, Chris Faulk or Stavion Lowe competeing with Hardwick for a spot on the line.

Barksdale could definitely make the move over the LT...especially if the coaches want to prepare him for the NFL and potential big money. I think he is good enough to make the switch, but will they switch him over so late in his career after being productive on the right side of the line? Only time will tell.

You have to remember that Hardwick has a couple years of experience on the incoming 2009 guys. He has a bigger frame than those guys, more experience against better competition, and only has 3 years to play 2...normally if LSU is willing to use a JUCO scholarship, they are able to step right in and play. Hence, I think he will jump all the freshman you listed on the depth chart.

This guy will find his way on the field. I have only heard positives about his play. I think he would get on the field before W. Blackwell at either LG/RG.

Once everyone sees his video, they will understand why LSU wants Hardwick. The guy is huge and is a pancake machine. Everything is shaping up for LSU to be favorites to win it all in 2011.

No, I do not believe he did.

He played three plays against Appy State. Sad he loses a year for that.
