That dude coached his a$$ off in the biggest game of his life. Yes they got their a$$es handed to them by UF, but so did we, again with more talent.
He's excelled at every level he's coached in. He started at the lowest ranks and has been working his way up to D-1. Dudes been paying his dues. Most of the coaches you love got their shot by doing the same thing.

LSU isn't exactly loaded with talent. That is part of the problem.

All I've ever said is I think this guy deserves a shot. Another name in the hat like you and everyone else is doing. I wouldn't mind the hire because it damn sure doesn't look like anybody else of high profile seems to want to come here. He'd come at a price that would leave room for recruiting budget.
And you want to talk about recruiting? It's not the fact that he found "that one guy who everybody overlooked", but the face that "O'quinn" and his teammates were overlooked and coached up is what was impressive. Seemed to work with FB coach Ron Cooper who had an eye for talent very well.
I like this guys demeanor, swag, and youthfulness even though he's in his early 40's. ANY coach we hire here is not a sure thing. You're taking a chance on all of them. So I would rather take a chance on an up and coming than a guy who's been a big time program and hasn't won sh*t consistantly.

I don't even think right now that we in the picture for any or at least most of the homerun hires that some want. I just think some people are being so unrealistic about the appeal of the HC position at LSU.

It looks like Alleva is scooping up Roy Williams and Coach K in NC, gonna grab Shaka in Norfolk, loop around and head for BR in time for a 6:00 press conference.

instead of selling that to a successful coach who's been part of a winning system, lets just hire one of "our own" whol learned how to perfect mediocrity.

That was the first things Evans said about LSU basketball. He brought up the Dale era. I know that we have the ability to be a threat every, but I just don't think our current situation is very inviting right now. With J Ham making his mistake and past rumors that others could leave. And the lack of bball talent in LA could make this even less appealing to a top dog coach. I hope whoever we go after can see past that sh*t.

Haven't read the entire thread, safe to assume the poster who dropped the Dixon rumor has vanished or does he have an idea of who this meeting is with?
