She said Alabama just needed "a buffer" to come in and take some lumps for a few years and then you fire him and then you go after "the coach."
uh, yea. Everyone knows this is true.

If i were a big name coach, there’s no way i’d take the Bama job. Flirt with it to get a big raise, but let some other guy go there and fail to live up to the unrealistic expectations.

The guy following Saban is set up to fail.

ESPN is going to see to it that Bama will be in the playoffs annually no matter what. The SEC will continue to fix games for Bama weekly, if needed.

You mean like they did when Mike Dubose was coach? Or Dennis Franchione? Or Mike Shula? When LSU fans play the "Bama cheats" card, or start talking about REC, paid off officials, etc. to explain Saban's success, it's just embarrassing. Let's just acknowledge that he was the GOAT, and that he has built the Bama program into a machine that will likely have sustained, long-term success (just as he did at LSU), tip our hats, and move on.

Bama hasn’t won a natty in several years now. SEC must be doing a terrible job of “fixing games.”

Nebraska in the 80's and 90's. Tom Osborne was their guy and he had his option quarterback system. Always in the top 10. He retires and they have yet to recover.

Yes, Saban already knew the fan base was highly delusional when he made those comments around “when I came here, fans were just happy to win a game, now we’re not happy to just win a game.” I’m sure a bunch of fans in T town have started to believe that this is their new standard from here on out, but the reality is finding a person with work ethic and attention to detail that Saban has/had is nearly impossible. So yea, I’m sure they won’t fall into irrelevance over night or possibly even in the near future, but your friend is right, going forward (at least in the short term) it will never be enough.

She sounds like a level headed gump. Many of the real old line Alabama people are, it’s the inbreds and their new, out of state douche bag yankee and cali bro students that suck.

Never underestimate the douche power of the bandwagon Louisiana Gumps. Insufferable. They’ll gravitate away towards the next non LSU winner and claim they were never on the bandwagon.

Yep, I look at teams like Nebraska- today young kids will never know how big of a championship caliber program they were in the 60's & beyond, especially under Ton Osborne.

I’ve told anyone that would listen, Bama got EXTREMELY lucky with Saban hire.

They didn’t deserve the success
