Based on what I saw out of okeke in the spring game, no way that guy was going to be ready to play by the first game. He may have a ton of talent, but he's got a ways to go.

OL was more damming to the team in November than any other position group. To play the style that LSU plays requires a great offensive line to be a great offense. I know a week out is not the time for objectivity, but I don't really see anything to inspire confidence that the line will be that much improved. LT is a major concern right now. Hopefully the defense being elite and perhaps some scheme tweaking this offseason can make up for it, but this group is probably this team's achilles heal.

Pump the brakes

We got skull dragged a couple times last year and lose 2 NFL lineman from that line, yet are supposed to be best ever?

Why is maea not a day one starter somewhere on the line? Was the injury that severe?

Malone imo will be solid. He's gonna suprise. Pocic would've moved over if they weren't confident in Malone and Teumha.. It's too important of a spot. I remember bama's AA center dominating middle LBers often and with the way LF runs between the tackles I like pocic Moore and LF/ Guice running right at the middle of defenses.

I hope you are right about Malone, but a 300 lb. OT had better be damn good because in today's 3-4 defenses many DEs are at least that big...don't really remember a dominant 300 lb. OT lately...most are 315 or more...but I'm hoping for the best...Go Tigers!

pocic

A big fan of pocic, but didn't he have serious issues blocking bamas nose tackle last year.

I like the idea of an athletic lineman like Malone blocking the likes of Tim Williams, Carl Lawson and Myles Garrett

Hell nah. 2013 is GOAT.

LT-La'El Collins
LG-Vadal Alexander
C-Elliot Porter
RG-Trai Turner
RT-Jerald Hawkins

That line was fricking sick. This line concerns me somewhat. KJ is pretty short for a LT and Josh's conditioning has always been lacking. Wouldn't mind it if Maea ends up starting at RG. Hope Chidi continues to progress because we might need him at some point.

Yep. Not concerned about his size either. He's as heavy as Hawkins and Pocic and as tall as Collins and Turner.

I really like the interior but I'm not sold on Malone . Haven't seen enough of him to formulate a real opinion . The reality is your gonna face upper echelon edge guys in the sec , some will make Malone , weatherby look foolish. It happen to Hawkins and Alexander last year as well. Let's just hope the line gels and we get some help from our QB and receivers.

I think Toby will be an upgrade over Vadal for sure. He just didn't have the lateral quickness to be a tackle. Bama and Arky exposed him. Wish Hawk had come back though. We really could've used him.

That's pretty sad, if that's the case. That line was pretty mediocre in important spots. They allowed this to happen:

Best ever? Ehh. Someone tell me why? I don't know enough about this year's O Line.

I'm more worried about Josh than KJ, but I always have concerns with OL.

Chidi is from Africa I believe and played one year of HS football. Maybe I'm wrong, but he is still very raw from my understanding.

Why? We are starting a third year veteran who won the job over a handful of very highly recruited guys. This is the sort of personnel move that gives me confidence. What makes me uneasy is when we have to rely on a freshman, as we are at linebacker.

Because our offense is, to put it lightly, traditional and LT is the most important position on the line in traditional offenses. From spring until now, we haven't really seen any one guy officially emerge out of a heap of project players, guards trying to play tackle, and now former project players. It's a major concern for the sole fact that Malone was definitely a project coming in and he has not played significant snaps at the position. He's not some can't miss prodigy at LT that is taking over as expected. He may be the best candidate, but do we really know what that means? We all know what the line looked like in November, and can we definitively say anything has happened that would indicate improvement other than the passing of the calendar?
