The kissing thing is frickin' weird!

Someone put into perspective in another thread that summed perfectly.

Most of these kids don't have a strong father figure in their life. TH is probably the closest thing most have ever had. I though it was weird at first too. When you put into perspective it really is a great sign of respect/connection he has with his players.

Some of y'all need to get the homophobia thing out of your heads. It's a father figure type of deal. He's not going tonsil deep with his tongue.

On the cheek? Sure, I grew up in an Italian family, that's normal for me. Bunch of homophobic bastards.

I'm surprised Penn State isn't going after him harder.

Things Ive learned from the rant.
1) Homophobia is real
2) A coach kissing his players on the cheek discredits his ability to be a damn strong coach.
3) A coach that "talks like us" is far more important than his coaching abilities.

Great article.

I get the impression that Tom Herman is a really sharp guy.

For all those balking at the notion of kissing a man, I ask you this; is there any more of a manly man, tough guy group than the Mafia? Because its customary for Italians(especially Sicilians) to kiss close friends and family members as a sign of trust and close bond.

I wouldnt expect half this State to understand this. Honkies from north LA(and rednecks all across the US) are descendants of British, Irish, Scots and Germans. People known for a lack of emotion. Its customary to not even hug your own kids.
