re: Nutt quote on kneeling

People use this term like seven year olds. It is all starting to make sense.
They project "feeling disrespected" on people that act like grown up enough men that they don't have time to fish for disrespect. Some do it with Lee, when all he is worried about is being a standup teammate. And even with Ole Miss saying that they didn't take it as disrespect, some refuse to believe it. Internet message boards (and commentators that talk like them) at their finest.

Fixed it for you. Legit head coaches don't have the brittle macho egos that some internet message board posters have and project onto players and coaches.
You are trying way too hard and reading way too much into this stuff, Zippy. Relax. You are "projecting."

I am not reading anything into it. The actual coach who it happened to didn't think it was a big deal. I agree with him. Anyone who reads kneeling being anything but kneeling is the one who is "trying way to hard."

People are speculating. It's what people do on college football message boards.

Why not just take a knee before we got to the 1? Why not just take 3 knees and punt when we got the ball to start the drive?
Cause we wanted to get sow guys that have busted their arse since summer some snaps? Then we didn't want to score more points. How is this hard to understand?

Let's hope. Anything else represents a true lack of understanding of Miles as a coach.

Speculating on actual football is all well and good. But speculating how players and coaches do/should "feel?" Especially when the evidence shows that they are bigger than those emotions? I I just happen to think that is silly and useless compared to talking actual football. But that's just me.

The bootleg probably worked better than anyone woukd have figured for. However, we all now know that Mett can run.

But there is absolutely nothing that happened with that deal that a child couldn't figure out. No speculation is needed.

Yeah, it was unorthodox. But Les was trying to be class. I understand the competitive aspect, but...
Can people TRY to show class without being called out for it.
Exactly, and I don't understand why people are still surprised to see Miles do something that nobody has ever seen before.

Not literally, Nutt should have just told him that was total disrespect.
How retarded are you?

Les is unlike other coaches. He "travels to the beat of a different drum."

I thought it was awesome. I liked it. I agreed with it. I think it's obvious most understood the "mercy" being given by the lack of reviewing that bootleg play (IMO it was an obvious touchdown). Glad Nutt didn't whine about it, but if I were him and my career was over, I would've had some fun... sent my offense in right after, had them purposefully take four very quick kneeldowns, given LSU back the ball, looked at Les and said "what now?"...

From 'The Hunt for Red October', Les' version of a "Crazy Ivan"
Les will invent the onsides punt eventually, and then run a fake onsides punt the next game.

Like I said on a similar thread, if I were Les, I would have taken the knee 3 times, then punted the ball out of the stadium from the redzone. that would have stirred the Rantards up good...

The last 4 posts in this thread...
I see it right now, Nutt kneeling in succession and punting, Miles punting into the stands on 4th and goal from the 11.
And they rantards say, "we didn't Lee punt the ball?"

At first I hated it...thought it was sending the wrong message... then I thought of the less than 1 percent chance that, God forbid, someone might get busted up on a meaningless play with a 49 point lead. Well played.

Didn't watch y'alls game, but my two cents: I have never seen CLM do anything classless or disrespectful to another team - nothing even close. This was Les' way of doing the honorable thing.
As to why drive down to the 1 and then take a knee? Well, I'm guessing that the backups (and 3rd stringers) were in. You have to take advantage of opportunities to get those players experience when you can.

It was like in Cool Hand Luke when big boy wouldn't hit Luke anymore.
Big difference in the bitching this time in Oxford.. I'll take it over the last time when Les was fired by the whole Rant.
