Why not just take a knee before we got to the 1? Why not just take 3 knees and punt when we got the ball to start the drive?

Fixed it for you. Legit head coaches don't have the brittle macho egos that some internet message board posters have and project onto players and coaches. There was more to be gained by a kneel than running real plays, that's all that mattered. Les will respect others in the way he expects to be respected. He wouldn't get his little feelings hurt over taking a knee in a 50ish point win, and others with any self esteem shouldn't either.
