Nothing is wrong with Harris.
sure he doesn't always hit an open man and he misses some throws, but even the best QBs can struggle with accuracy at times...
the only complaint I have on Harris is that when he can't find his open guy, he doesn't always use his legs and athletic ability to scramble and pick up good yards. He has done it a few times this year but other times he panics and throws the ball away or tries to force it down field...
other than that, it's his receivers who are having the problems. they've dropped way too many catch-able passes this year.

I would have hope for harris except I have no confidence in his coaches.
against all the weak teams when we were rushing for 300 yards there was no pressure and he wasn't asked to do much. just watching his body language he looked like he was getting more confident.
salviati loves his stats and thinks he was really improving. I don't think it was meaningful improvement under the circumstances. what would the trend line look if those last 4 games were interspersed in the rest of the schedule. would we have a nice neat graph or a chart going up and down? it just worked out that the snoozers were all front loaded. Florida was his most impressive game, since florida did have a defense. after that game I would've readily agreed he was improving.
But when he went up against real teams and the rushing game wasn't helping, where was the improvement?
texas a & m - what happened there? we were rushing and I believe that was the worst game he had all year.

Improve from what idiot he's a first year starter
Game to game...idiot.
So were you saying the same thing about Anthony Jennings last year? He's just a first year starter, give him a chance.
Both digressed through the year.

m have you seen FR Jared Stidham or SO Chris Johnson at Baylor??? Those boys run circles around Harris. Dont give me this young bullshite. Harris hasnt been coached, plain and simple. He was awesome in highschool. Miles recruited a dual threat QB but refuses to leverage what hes good at, instead, he tries to force him to run Les' offense which is archaic.
And they play in the 0 defense conference. It's easy to sit back and throw like a pro when you can take as much time as you want to throw. What happened when they hit a D with even a hint of a pulse? The wet the bed. Try a better comparison. Hell, Look at Dak Prescott. He got his arse handed to him 2 years ago by LSU's D and they went 6-6. Now he is a legit QB. Experience matters. I'm sorry if this doe not fit your woe is me narrative.
ETA: 2015 Stats for Chris Johnson: Chris Johnson 12 34 200 35.3 5.88 3 2 102.1

He was 58% comp pct before the bama game. That is not even very good let alone "excellent". Lol
Finished the season at 53%.

Mettenberger finished his first season at 54%. Would you say he improved the next year? We as fans, tend to forget the little things.

People are being impatient with Harris. I'm no expert but I believe he was improving through the season, until we hit Bama and beyond. I think he lost his confidence.
He improved immensely from his freshman season to his sophomore. As a junior he'll be back with a vengeance.

Read what I said again:
quote:He completion percentage was over 64% for 4 fricking SEC games. That 58% came in a game that was in miserable, soggy conditions, and it was almost 300 yards.

Truly, you're a fricking moron.

Yup. His production decreased during and after the Alabama game in which he suffered an injury.

I hope your right...because he is our only option...unfortunately

The only way I see harris improving is if the passing offense changes. More short to medium passes. More high percentage passes. No more play action deep passes plus there may be a new OC so he would have to learn new schemes possibly.

That was the problem, those passes were low percentage passes for Harris. He is still learning how to put touch on the ball. As with most things, this comes with experience. Those plays were called but they had a low percentage of success because he generally shot the ball like a cruise missile. The current receiver squad is not up to par with the likes of Beckham and Landry. reps reps reps

no he didn't. in fact he was worse at the end then in the beginning. he has never looked for the short route when the deep one was covered. he either takes the sack to throws into double coverage on the deep route.

I also see a lot of guys talking about how Met progressed through the season in 2012. Not really the case. He looked all world against Bama, but he looked like crap against State and Arkansas. Luckily, his receivers could do twisting aerial one handed catches.
I think what Miles asks his quarterbacks to do is retarded, but eventually they either seem to be able to shoulder the load, or they look like JJ. I at least think Cam is the right guy to tutor these kids into becoming proficient in Miles' system. Cause let's face it, it ain't changing.

As much as I wish you were right, I just don't see it. Harris isn't very good.
