How about "mutual rivals". Bama hates Auburn as much as Auburn hates Bama, same for Bama and Tenn, Ga and Fl, Ole Miss - Miss State.

These are the rivalries I have asked them not to mention. The whole world knows about them. My question is to find the obscure rivalries that only the school and its fans know about.

It sure seems as much hate for Ole Miss as I have seen on this board that the Rebs do mean a little to you guys.

IMHO, the strongest rivalry changes based on situation. Right now it is:
#1 Bama - because of Saban
#2 That's tough right now because it is normally the team we have the toughest time beating; that ties FL and GA for 2 right now. There is no #3, because after #2 who cares.

Before Saban, #1 was whoever we regularly had a tough time with.

I guess you want us to say Tulane then.

Didnt Santa Barbara beat LSU's arse back in the 1930's?

Texas A&M would definitely be one but LSU hasnt been playing them lately.

I dont care who you say, I want to know who yall think your SECOND biggest rivalry is, you can name them all if you want, but I am going to take the second one in the list. so if you want, name East Baton Rouge High, ULM, ULL,one of those other "L"'s, Makes me no difference. Im just sitting back counting votes.

Although I'll always be grateful to Saban for his shoring up of the LSU football program, it does feel funny that he is now coaching for Bama. I don't hate the man, nor am I angry at him, but I'd like to see LSU continue to beat Bama just because he was here.

But I rank Bama 2nd, and Florida 1st...just because Florida has consistently been some tough sumbitches to beat.

Then Auburn. They're usually tough.

Everyone else in the SEC can just line up below depending on their rankings...

Without a doubt, the hardest fought game we play now is the Auburn game. It's our most important because its an interdivisional game.

It's actually kind of sad because we don't have a true rival anymore. Tulane and Ole Miss back in the day. Currently, no doubt, Auburn. And for the foreseeable future, you can etch Alabama in there as well for obvious reasons.

1. bama
2. auburn

The bama fans up here in virginia are making it a point to say roll tide when they see my louisiana plate.

In terms of just football...

I was too young to remember much about the LSU/Ole Miss rivalry of the '70s and before, so I don't even consider them a rival. Arkansas seems like a contrived rivalry--I mean who really cares about the "Boot?"

I think in order for a school to be a rival, there has to be a competition of sorts for something. To that end, I would put Auburn as our biggest rival in this decade, because we're competing for the SEC west most years.

Alabama would be #2 on my list. I actually get a gleeful smirk on my face when they lose! (Yes, it's been a bad year for me!) I HATE, HATE, HATE them!!! This is not just because of the whole Saban drama or because they seem to be on the rise right now. BAMA fans are obnoxious with their stupid "Roll Tide" cheer. They drove me nuts one New Year's Eve when they went to the Sugar Bowl (1990?). They started that damned cheer at one end of Bourbon street and it carried all the way to the other end and then back again. And again. And again. I also remember going out after an LSU/BAMA football game in the mid-90's (yes, we lost), and Murphy's was packed full of BAMA fans. As an LSU fan, I was in the minority that night. I never thought I'd have to defend my team at one of our campus bars! My friends were all LSU students, but they knew a lot of the BAMA fans from high school. Why there were so many graduates from LA high schools attending Alabama is beyond me.

I like how the SEC is the only conference where non-rivals are actually rivals simply because theyre in the SEC. no other conference has that.

A$M/LSU used to be a great Rivalry. Had that series continued, I think that would be LSU's biggest rivalry game each year...SEC games included.

Right now the I would have to say 1.Auburn - we are continually sluggin it out for the SEC West then 2. Florida - because we are finally competitive with them.

If you guys would ever get competitive again on a regular basis the deep seated and currently dormant hatred of Ole Miss would quickly flame into a raging rivarly again.

I really would like to know which team is your most heated rivalry.
Traditionally...
1. Ole Miss
2. Tulane
3. Alabama
4. Texas A&M

Recently.....
1. Auburn
2. UF
3. Alabama
4. Arkansas

Traditionally and Recently combined......
1a Ole Miss
1b Auburn
3. Alabama
4a UF
4b Texas A$M

I think people are putting to much stock in and remembering just the past 15 years when claiming the Auburns, Alabamas, and UFs as our biggest rivalries and ignoring the 100 years prior to that. You can't just simply ignore the epic rivalries with Ole Miss in the 50's and 60's and the hatred going into the 70s. Also, Auburn/LSU has been rated the #1 rivalry of the past 10 years in terms of close games and intensity, and don't forget the name games. LSU/Alabama had the home field dis-advantage the past 20 years. LSU/UF rivalry has 3 eras.....Pre Spurrier, Spurrier, and Post Spurrier....LSU leads both Pre and Post, but UF dominated durring Spurrier while UF's best football in their history was combined with LSU's worst to make it onesided in favor of UF during this era.

For me, without a doubt, its Ole Miss. Would like to see the Rebels make a push to regain national prominence and reawaken this great rivalry.
