No one should have been surprised by our defense yesterday

First, Murray is a damn good Qb playing in a well conceived system.

Moreover, it's been evident that we would struggle against better offenses. It's not just the lapses against Kent and UAB. The second half vs a pretty pedestrian Auburn offense with an inexperienced QB revealed a great deal.

The play weak at all levels: DL, LB, DB. I wouldn't expect much improvement going forward. It's 5 games into the season.

Again, that was a damn fine offense we played yesterday but the breakdowns frequent. Plus, they played a half without the best TB in CFB.

Sad to watch.

People make me out to be a welter lover, I'm not.
I just believe its fricking retarded to spotlight him out when all 11 aren't very good.
18 and 9 have been disappointments as well as entire secondary.

I was very concerned, I was not surprised by the result. I was surprised at the lack of even a single positive performance. Every defensive position is terrible. And either scheme or execution is terrible. I expected to see a couple positives, there are none.

Hard to criticize LSU's defense until they actually get one...

Chavis needs to play all the freshman defensive players to give us depth on the dline. Same 4 starters played 80% of the snaps. Looks like our recruiting on D hasn't been championship level these last 2 years.

Actually, I am surprised, honestly.

I really and truly did not think the defense would suck that bad. They are worse than I ever imagined, and I see no sign whatsoever they will improve.

They are constantly lost, have no heart, create no push and are gassed by the third possession.

We are a pac 12 team now. LOL

Well I think the level of ineptness was surprising. No sacks or hurries of Murray. Few or little stops in the backfield. No pass break ups? Yes we knew the defense would struggle, but I don't know if anyone expected them to be so bad?

Thought this game would really tell us about the D and there were signs of this in the 1st few games. Their young and hope they will make improvements over the season. It could be a tough two yrs on D unless one of the young linemen grow up fast.

It wasn't surprising.

However, I expect (barring injuries) the defense to improve over the course of the season. Look forward to watching their improvement.

the talent level of past years just isn't there. Guys that could make a difference are to young, at least in the staffs eyes, to really contribute much. Don't expect much going forward. WE will improve to some degree but not to anywhere near the level we are use to.

No surprise here...."Bend don't break" has always cost us freshman or sr... the talent has always been there...U step up and be an Impact player Chavis scheme's also cost Tennessee the big ones!

I am proud of the Tigers as they played their hearts out. We lost the game because we have no defense! The offense was awesome.I agree with another poster, I think the Chief should play mostly freshman on defense & get game experience for the future because now we have as sorriest Defense as I can remember at LSU! I said before the season started I would be happy with 8&4 or 9&3.Hope I am wrong but time will tell!

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shite. This defense is chicken shite. They will not improve. Recruiting, not experience, will fix our defense.

Everybody knew we took a step back. Nobody, including yourself, knew it'd be this bad. As mentioned, there's a difference between inexperience and ineptness. Our problems are deeper than experience and talent

They don't deserve to be called a defense. I am not sure if the MalVeto days were ever that bad.

Kinda surprised to see how many "fans" that are ready to call the season a washout this morning.
Yeah the defense really stunk it up yesterday, but
I think we all knew the D was going to be the big question this season with their youth and inexperience. As far as the offense,we matched Georgia play for play until right there at the end.The focus should be on defense this week for sure, finding the right players that can execute. Georgia's D wasn't all that great either (minus the sacks on Mett)Chavis is a good D coordinator, but it's also like one of the SEC coaches said about his own team, the coaches can call the plays, but the players have to execute them, lack of execution = poor performance
