I'm skeptical about all of this because of our recent, relatively consistently getting burned on these since Katrina. Yeah, we were getting the games moved, but that's never ideal. We've lost some minor games of our own altogether, which also isn't a good thing.

So, I'm not blaming Alleva, specifically, for this specific instance of chaos - but he always seems to be around and never has really good answers. I think it is up to leaders to lead and he just isn't an inspiring one.

And if there really are no contingencies before these major weather events until they actually happen, then shame on all of them. This is their job - their only job. (ADs, league, NCAA, ESPN, the whole caboodle.)

Yes this just sucks now. We knew at the end of last week that Houston would not be able to host this game. There are plenty of venues willing to host it and here we are at the end of Monday and we may announce it tomorrow. Just bullshite especially after last year's fiasco. Give a location so people can make arrangements is all people WANT.

Am I right in thinking that the entity running this would probably rather cash out an insurance policy to recoup their losses than move the game, pay for a venue, and not fill hall of it up?

When UF moved to TS there were a ton of empty seats with a lot more notice for fans to react.

I don't blame Alleva for the Fla. rescheduling outcome, but I am quite sure LSU lost the PR battle on those issues when all was said and done.
I note that LSU often loses PR battles (another contemporaneous example would be the speculation about Herman and LSU by Mark May that made us look so bad. I do not know who is to blame for our PR/messaging, but it has not been good.

Jesus!! The big bucks are coming from ESPN.
If this game were played on the dark side of the moon, ESPN would get their money from the sponsors. Actual attendance is a pittance compared to ad revenue.

That is why the people with their panties up their collective cracks are looking like jackasses over their attacks on Alleva over this.

All of the cards are in ESPN's hands the only , ONLY option Alleva has is to either accept what ESPN decides or let $4 million dollars go away.

Gee don't you people know ANYTHING about how the world works?

Relax Ace.

The decision has been mad. They're just waiting on all the contracts and permits to be filed.

Dude, I am chill AF - CENLA style.

It's all the Alleva defenders - I'm not even blaming the dude, directly - I guess they're stoked that he finally fired Miles, so now he's all right in their books.

For those who didn't get it before - I'm...not...blaming...Alleva...specifically - I'm saying that the system seems broken enough to warrant rethinking how contingency planning goes. Specifically for LSU. We have lost games/revenue on situations that ARE all on the AD. I was right there blaming Florida last year - why should LSU have lost a game because Florida didn't want to move? Particularly when they ended up moving anyway?

Nonsense. And if it really isn't Joe's fault at all (and obviously, he's at least partly to blame for some of these), he's not doing a good job of defending himself.

Would much rather play in Nashville than NOLA. Been there, done that.

It's not about NRG Stadium being in good condition. This is about the logistics of staffing a stadium and security detail as well as moving fans around flood damaged parts of town.

Even if the stadium is spared, it wouldn't be responsible to pull local resources away from flood recovery efforts to try and have a game there on Saturday.

Probably not.
