I read on this board many criticisms about Alleva. I for one think he has been a Net Positive on our athletic program and really appreciate his respect for our traditions. For example, His staff has worked hard on keeping our home games at night even when nationally televised. All will be in 2014.

No credit OR criticism give to AD for game times. Completely up to networks. Even though many want blame Alleva for day games.

I don't know how it worked out, but the narritive on here is that its a down year, and we aren't relative, so others get the 2:30 time slot. Whether its true or not, I don't know, but others have alluded to it. Probably somewhere in between...

actually i believe Alleva had a "handshake deal" with CBS not to pick LSU as a day game unless it was absolutely necessary. thats what my sources told me anyways

but people hate Alleva so they'll say it was someting else

I think we can give credit to mississippi state for keeping us out of that cbs daytime slate.

I think it had a lot to do with the fact that we fell off the playoff contention map quickly.

being blow out two straight weeks made us an unattractive pick up for CBS. If we beat MSU and maybe Auburn we would have had a few more 2:30 games than we did.

But also SEC network had a big impact too. Pretty much all but the CBS game will be a night game for SEC teams.

Somewhat

But the Ole Miss game was by far the best SEC game of the day and somehow got passed up by CBS

It actually worked out really well. CBS never picked us for a 2:30 game, so that left the night slots open to pick us up. The only home game I thought CBS might have picked up was Ole Miss, but they went with MSU-UK instead. Bama was practically a lock for a night game from the beginning, because of the doubleheader.

No. This is about the TV stations, not Alleva. CBS didn't want us in their 2:30 time slot this year - so we're playing at night.

I 100% agree with you. alleva alluded to this before the season started.

and this too. however, if not for the SEC network, I think LSU would have been picked up on one of the other ESPN channels.

Another thread full of cluelessness. Do you all realize how many day game slots there were, besides the CBS game? Every week there was the possibility of playing the 11:00 SEC Network game (sometimes there were 2 slots for that) OR the afternoon SEC Network slot that went up against CBS. I think Alleva did have something to do with making sure we didn't end up in those slots. The crappy September games easily could have ended up at 11:00 am.

Ole Miss can't be too happy about that. They were out of their league on a Saturday Night in Death Valley.

I really don't hate Alleva at all. I just think the SEC gave LSU a big "frick you" and forced us to play on Thanksgiving in College Station.

This. Everyone, including the networks, knows our preference for night games, but that doesn't really hold water when it comes time for each network to pick games for their already scheduled time slot.

I do think the networks appreciate that it's in their best interest to cover LSU at night in baton rouge so they might pass on us for a 2:30 (CBS) knowing they will show us at night later on. I thought CBS has to somewhat be selective to spread their picks around a bit (e.g., they can't show one team every week). To think Alleva has any real say-so in this matter is pretty naive.

I doubt A&M and LSU will be a Saturday night game next year.
