NIT is pretty lame. " Here go play with the other teams not good enough"

The NIT means more games, more practice time. Experience in a single elimination environment. God knows this team needs all of that.

Besides, do you really want to be one of those programs who turn down the NIT because they feel that their personal feces is not odiferous?

Don’t give a shite about MBB until they’re in the NCAA Tourney. The Not Invited Tourney is a participation trophy for losers

IMO, the only important factor in who wins an NIT game is who wants to win it more. I have no idea what frame of mind our players will be in for Tuesday.

The arena will be tied up with practices and media availability for the women’s teams on the 23rd

Since I went to UNT that’s the only other school I follow besides LSU. Knowing both teams I don’t feel too confident in LSU chances but

Good, then don't watch or comment since it's not worth the time

The rest of us actual fans will be watching and cheering for the players who continue to bust their butt for the program when other schools didn't. This tournament can be a nice building block going into next year.

I guess McMahon taking the same route as Wade is somehow failure now. That’s what happens when you are in a cult. There is no logic in your thinking. It’s all emotional. Just like children. It’s much easier going through life as an LSU fan. You should try it. You don’t have to be a miserable frick all the time. Yes as an LSU fan I’m happy being in the NIT THIS YEAR. Gives the younger guys more playing time. Gives the team more exposure. Anyone against that is just an idiot.

I am looking forward to the NIT and after OOC play it’s an accomplishment to be at this point,

With that said Wade had us winning the SEC his second season. He’s gotten mcneese to a 12 seed in his first season.

Wade haters need to stop bringing up wade. They are the primary instigators on this board and it only serves to make them look foolish and McMahon look ineffectual

Just look at what it did for last year's NIT champs North Texas. They rode that momentum from winning the NIT in 2023 into a 2024 NIT berth at LSU.

McMahon has a long way to go to equal Wade's accomplishments. McMahon has done a much better job coaching this year than his first year IMO.

I do hope LSU does well in the NIT. It will be a reward for the players. I am not excited to pay $20 for a general admission ticket for a minor league tournament, however.

McMahon needs to be more concerned with drastically improving the roster for next season. He is losing a lot from the current roster. Most freshman will not replace the experience and talent he is losing. He needs at least three really good transfers to fill roster weak spots.

Settle down, you're replying to one of the biggest basketball fans on the board. He goes to every game barring a serious obligation.

quote:

North Texas has an actual trophy from winning the NIT championship last season. LSU last year, on the other hand, had one of its worst basketball seasons ever.

Neither team is the same team as last season.

And we're going to demean this NIT matchup?

It's OK to be disappointed in the rematch. The NIT is not what it once was but any reasonable poster (the guy you replied to is one of the most reasonable here) values the NIT for a team that is moving from a low point and building up.

quote:

I just hope we win a game (or hopefully two).

I expect us to but there is a reason they actually play the games. I home LSU will win this.

Like Will Wade at LSU. NIT in his first season at LSU. Stagnant after that, right?

Watch an actual college basketball coach (as opposed to ignorant TD posters) educate on why a team SHOULD take the opportunity of going to the NIT, and why excuses like needing to recruit or address the portal, are just that, excuses.: LINK

And as I said in a previous thread, “better” basketball programs DO want to be in the NIT.
Even Calipari era Kentucky wanted to play in the NIT when they didn’t make the NCAAT.
They went In the 2008/9 season with future NBA talent Patrick Patterson, DeAndre Liggins and Jodie Meeks, Kentucky didn’t turn down that invite.
And who can forget the 2012/13 season team that lost in the first round to Robert Morris, when that team had future NBA players Nerlens Noel, Willie Cauley-Stein, Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress.
Alabama went in 2015/16/17/19
Auburn went 2008/9.

It’s kind of like LSU football deciding not to turn down a very lowly bowl game.

The only option for this game is to purchase General Admission tickets. There will be NO reserved seating available to the public for this game. Adult tickets are $20 and Youth tickets are $10.

All tickets general admission so this is your chance to sit wherever you want.

Don't be the idiot that compares the 1st season of each coach. Apples and oranges. Point is Wade went to NIT after terrible seasons under Jones. Mcmahon is going to NIT his second year but his first year was a cluster f**k due to the Wade situation before. That is a fact. And Wade went to the NIT with future NBA players on his team when he got there. Doe that make him a bad coach that year? It would if his name was Mcmahon. These people seriously need to get some therapy. Constantly bringing up Wade whether the news is good or bad for LSU basketball shows just how mentally unstable these people are. I will be there supporting LSU basketball and hope this helps springboard the team to a better outcome next year. I will judge Mcmahon on his own merits and not on Will Wade. He has done a great job with the exit of Cook. Not easy to lose your leading scorer and starting PG on this team and continue to have wins in big games against ranked opponents. Anyone who doesn't agree with that is just a moron and loser in life.
