this.

if it's not for a NC or at worst a bcs bowl, it's really all the same.

Why would you expcect a dominating performance? I haven't seen one all year.

So the 41-3 win over Washington wasn't dominating?

While i know what yall are all saying and this season was meh, i agree with OP.. A dominant bowl win against a pretty good team could get us a little fire heading into next year, much like our win against Texas A&M in the Cotton

As far as recruiting though I don't think it does too much

The best recruits care about winning. This game and every game means something to recruits who want to play on a team capable of winning championships. LSU/Miles needs to open up the offense and show the nation that the offense is not pedestrian.

Unless we lose it and then crying and stomping of feet will put the world's worst 2 yr old to shame.

Any LSU fan not interested in winning this bowl game to up our record to 11-2 and put us in line for a Top 5 finish is one spoiled, college football mentally challenged fan.

LSU beating Clemson could pay huge dividends on the recruiting trail w 2013 signing class

While I agree. Clemson is NO gimme. This team scares the hell out of me. I don't think beating Clemson will any difference in recruting.IMO.

Then dont call yourself a fan, Dumbass.

This game is extremely important to springboarding into next year in a top five or better preseason projection. This could be the tipping point for some key top flight recruits.

The bowl might not be as prestegious as we all would like but the matchup is one of the marquise premier games this bowl season that everyone is watching for trends to 2013.

This game is a sort of no win situation, for LSU.
But LOSING a bowl game decisively, that folks expect you to win can have a negative effect on a program.
Ask Miami .
Arguably their bowl loss to LSU had a material negative effect on the program, recruiting, players leaving for pros...
Does anyone contend 1/9/12 affected only fans?

Sarcasm aside the consensus seems to be if we can "dominate our opponent" then maybe something very, very good can come of another Tiger post-season victory. I totally agree with this assessment. I also have confidence in this team going into a bowl game. See Ala. performance after only 2 weeks of preparation. If the coaches and players can get on the same pages w execution and play calling offensively it could be a special night. Besides Clemson is more suited for high scoring games with their premier offensive players. Our defense will play well - they have every game this season:
LSU 44 CLEMSON 14. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. BCS title in 2013 starts New Year's Eve. What a way to bring in the New Year! Geaux Tigers!

Clemson is saying the same thing.

I would like NOTHING more. But its Highly doubtful LSU wins by 30. IMO LSU will be LUCKY to even WIN this game. This a HUGE stepping stone for Dabo and his team. Plus I think LSU comes out real flat with nothing to really prove. Clemson has A SHITLOAD to prove.

They will give a shite IF LSU loses....if they win they expect that...and will find some reason to complain about HOW they won.

If they lose...they will find a way to blame Miles, no matter what actually happens.

I never heard of a big name recruit saying "Well, I was leaning towards (Team A) prior to the bowl season because of the chance to play early and the great coaching staff. But after watching (Team B) really dominate the Gator Bowl, I think I'm going to sign with (Team B) instead."

Gunner Kiel says hello. Or is that too distant to remember?

Posters who think this game is not important or just don't care are idiots. Most are probably snot-nosed kids that don't know jack. They think we will win a natty every year. It just don't work that - go ask your mommy or daddy. We had a good season and were close to being championship level. We need to support our team. If u don't, then geaux somewhere else DIPSHIT.
