Is that the Sheraton in the Galleria (near Causeway)? If so, it is decent area...safe (corner of Old Metairie area) and close to main roads to get you around town.

Metry, but convenient. I would cab it downtown if I were you. Will no doubt be cheaper than parking and you won't have to deal with parking and drivigin downtown.

Nah, drive to Carrollton and St. Charles, park on the street, then catch the streetcar downtown. When you get back hang out at Cooter Brown's and have a Muffaletta for dinner before driving back to hotel.

Yeah, take Causeway South to Airline, go left.. then there's a right about a half mile up to get to River RD , go left, then to River Bend and Cooter Browns.. park on the levee... street car it from there. Should be an empty street car or close to it when you take it...at least you'll get a seat.

Get a drink and wait. sweeeeeet.

I should have mentioned that. Get a few drinks to go to carry on the streetcar. Get off at Carondalet and Canal, walk across the street and you're on Bourbon St.

Levee is free, streetcar, $1.25. Exact change only. Add .25 if you want a transfer, but you won't need one unless you want to catch the streetcar on Canal to go to the river (about 8 blocks).

Airiline and a right to River Road?
No. This does not work.
Take Causeway Blvd. South to Jefferson Highway, then left, and right through the shopping center to River Road.

Or go straight on Causeway, under the "loop" of the overpass through to River Road and turn left on River Road. Follow the levee onto Leake Ave. in New Orleans, then follow the above stated directions to the streetcar, then Cooter Browns, later.

Damn! I meant Jefferson...

I think that parking lot is officially a street, but I'm not sure..

It is a street. But you can simply go straight on Causeway, as well, I believe.

I work in the Galleria in Metairie, there are four hotels within two blocks of the building. The Sheraton, a Courtyard Marriott, a Fairfield (I think) and a newly renovated Holiday Inn Express.

Very safe area.

Catch a cab downtown, much easier and safer than trying to park.
