florida played a vanilla offense considering they had a banged up qb. some florida fans i know were kinda disappointed in the playcalling

Crucify us for being critical.

But I will agree to some extent that most posters take it too far.

LSU had been built into an elite program. It's sad to watch it wither away. But hey, we only lost to Florida by 10. There are only 109 teams with better offenses than LSU. Moral victories, baby!

I think they were trying to prevent turnovers, and so they played it safe.

If a team tries to be aggresive against this defense they will turn the ball over. CUM understood this and they won because of their conservative game plan.

the same people that defended Dinardo to the day he was fired by Mark E. loved when lsu looked good in a lost. gotta love those Moral Victories. You think Texas likes Moral victories, USC, Florida?

I see your point Mad Hatter, but Tebow was not 100% and honestly CUM didn't trust Brantley to get it done. That said Tebow was the safer option with handing the ball off with the 20+ dive plays that florida ran last Sat. also, florida doesn't throw the ball much to begin with. this is a running florida team with Tebow.

Maybe they prefer mediocrity. It's much easier to upgrade tickets and have a picnic inside Tiger Stadium when only 40,000 people go to the games.

Winning the National Title twice was incredible...I recall sitting in the stands back in the early nineties watching Florida rip us 51 to 3...I watched every horrible moment. I will never leave an LSU game until it is over. I watch every moment I can on TV. I love the Tigers, and respect Miles especially for the way he handled the situation with Katrina...he seemed to be the right man at the right time...when LSU, the players and fans needed someone to want to be there, he was.

However, the criticisms of the performance of the team are merited.

I watch many other teams throughout the country who successfully bring in young players and succeed with them...so, some of the age excuses do not fly with me as far as our quarterbacks are concerned.

The defense has been looking better...but we have got to get to the quarterback...and become nastier and more disciplined.

The article about Crowten a few years ago...whoa. It seems to be true...I do not care how, but get our play makers the ball...why Russell Shepard or Jefferson with Trindon cannot run the same freakin' zone read play that Tebow and Demps have run to death I will never know. Crap, at least scare someone with the possibility of handing it off to Trindon on an end around.

No more option to the short side...please.

I want us to do well, and I think everyone else does too. We are just seeing trends...and some of us were there for the Hallman years...

Good Post and the voice of reason and reality. Many the maniac punks on this board don't realize that only FL, and LSU have 2 BCS Balls, and programs like USC, TX, OK, the U, OSU, Neb, TN.... have one, and don't realize how hard it is to stay on top year after year -- nothing is automatic -- especially in the SEC. They also don't realize that we have the potential for a good year, with amazing forture a great year. Thanks for your post.

"You people"?
Anyways, it is good for a football program to expect to win a National Championship every year, it brings out more support, more recruits, and more revenue, which goes to the football program. We're lucky we can expect to win a N.C. every season, you just dont realize it.

I don't know anyone that realistically expected a National Championship this year given what transpired last year. The Rantard's memory is short, but if you told me before the season started that right now we'd be 5-1 with a loss to Florida, I'd say that we're right where we need to be.

I think it's understood that last year was a down year. Because of that, it SHOULD be understood that this is a rebuilding year. We're on pace to go 10-2 a kick the crap out of some scrub in this rebuilding year.

I'll take that every time.

I agree with this. HOWEVER!! if YOU want to be one of the BETTER teams [OR ELITE STATUS], You have to to produce and LSU has NOT done that this year.

problem is now we are not considered one of the elite teams even in our conference. those teams are florida and bama. This ship is starting to tilt considering we are staring at a 3-4 loss season.

and the rebuilding comments are starting to surface from the cool aid nation. Elite programs do not rebuild they just reload ask texas and florida.

3-4 losses? Really?
5-1 Auburn
3-2 Ole Miss
3-2 Arkansas

How imposing...

I don't know who you've been talking to, but LSU is STILL regarded as one of the elite in the SEC and in the Nation. The world is not ending. All hope is not lost.

And BTW, that Texas team that you're so high on went 9-3 in 2006 and 2007. Which is actually worse than most are predicting us to do this year.

5 losses last year combined with a 3-4 loss season this year, I am sorry we are not considered in the Elite tier of the sec. Obviously our definitions of elite status are as different as hooking up with a girl at Sullivans vs hooking up with a girl at the Cadillac Cafe. Florida and Bama are by themselves as of now. My definition of elite is not synonymous with mediocrity.
