I believe this team is getting it together and can be very good.
I've believed this three or four times this season. They just can't consistently get their shite together, and they are terrible on the road.

I really don't think they'll make the tournament. NIT and a 2nd round loss sounds about right.

Then, they lose a lot of talent and it's back to square 1.

It will be a big tell to see how this team responds in Auburn. This is the type of game that has tormented CJJ teams at times. Let's see if we come together or fail to show.

Really.... correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we beat a Kentucky team that went to the final four?

The Auburn is going to be tough. Auburn has beaten a top 25 team at home this season and it always hard it win after a heartbreaker.

Thanks for proving my point dumb arse. Yes they beat the 2014 UK team that went to the national championship, then they turned around and lost to Mississippi State and Auburn and ended in the NIT.

bullshite, and in case you didn't notice, this is an LSU sports forum... it's where we fans come to enjoy our successes, bitch about failures, and everything in between....

not everyone here is going to have the same head in the clouds, everything is gonna be OK guys attitude after losing an important game, like today... and while we are at it, the call out threads usually made after we win, by the sunshine pumping brigade, are about on the same level as what you are pointing out.... so while we are pointing fingers and shite....

Wrong again dumbass. It is obvious after every game whether it is football, baseball but especially basketball. But it's the old adage that mediocre people don't want to see other people succeed. Ben Simmons is the latest example of this fanbase not wanting someone to excel.

you need to realize that these "almost won" games don't actually count in the W column
Actually, you need to realize the W column doesn't count into anything. No amount of regular season Ws ever got a team a trophy in college basketball since the NCAAs came around (a loooong time ago). It's all about the committee. And if you think losing by 2 to the #1 team in the country is no different than any other L (which, btw, every single team before the committee will have), then you have no idea what selection or selection committee mean, much less how this one works.

You do realize we could be 12-19, and if the committee wanted to they could still put us into the tournament, right? And if we won 6 straight games there, we'd be 18-19, with more of those dreaded Ls you hate than the beloved Ws you worship, and still holding up the National Championship Trophy. It's all about what the committee wants, and they want a team that can play with anybody to have a chance in the tourney. Today that's LSU showed them. So, yeah, our chances got better.

Yes, if Bower is back...it's still an SEC road game, so it's no cakewalk. But given the urgency we cannot afford a let down, we really can't.

That's why I think it will be a big tell for this team how we show up Tuesday.

Who you calling dumbass? You were the one that tried saying we never win games like tonight but yet I provided you with an example of a game like tonight's that we won. But now, you are mad. I feel your struggle man. Actually I don't know your struggle because I know how to make a point.

It's basketball. Come on. A way to fill up time between football and baseball. Outside of Kentucky, who in the SEC really cares? Gymnastics generally draws better crowds. That's all we need to know.

And many are not even capable of posting positives even after we win. It's very simple: psychological testing has shown that conversation reflects attitude; that means the amount you speak (or write, in modern communication) about something positively or negatively reflects your thoughts about that thing. If you 90% of the things you say about something are negative, you think that thing is 90% bad. If 60% of the things you write about something are positive, you think that thing is 60% good. So if 90% of your posts about LSU basketball are negative, that means you think LSU basketball is 90% bad. It's pretty clear that our W/L record, not to mention our tournament profile, program history, etc., prove that's not the case. So a profile history with 90% of the posts being negatives would reflect a severe disconnect from reality and a completely unrealistically negative view of LSU basketball.

yeah, he told me you play to win the game....

and FWIW, i do believe that if we are "close", we are in, because of the draw of Ben Simmons... other than that, we would have a much harder road to the NCAA Tourney....

we also showed them we will fold like a lawn chair, give up a double digit lead on our own court, all while having full sails on the wind of our crowd.... luxuries we won't have in the tourney....

sorry but "almost winning" a game isn't helping our chances... eventually we have to actually win them.... again, i think if we are close and possibly even a little undeserving, we get in on the strength of wanting to see Ben Simmons, who's a solid #2 for the Wooden Award, so far....

you do realize that coin has two sides right? 90% positive would also show a sever disconnect from reality and a completely unrealistic view of LSU sports....

You are dumb

When did I say we never win games like tonight? I said the exact opposite. CJJ teams always get up and play out of their minds against ranked teams.number 1 UK last year in which we barely lost, we beat a top 10 West Virginia, then lost to Mississippi State or Auburn the next game. We beat top 15 Arky at their place then lose to Auburn the next game in the SEC tourney.

Like I said before Johnny Jones teams are inconsistent, always have been, always will be.

Depends on the sport. I think it's entirely reasonable to believe LSU is among the top 10% of college football programs in the country right now, so a 90% positive view would not be unrealistic at all. In basketball, it would be a hefty stretch. But nowhere close to as much of a stretch as 90% negative would be. And of course, with football getting so much more weight than anything else (perhaps everything else), baseball being pretty strong, and marked success in a lot of other sports, I wouldn't think it much of a stretch at all to say LSU sports is among the top 10% of college athletic programs in the country. So an overall rate of 90% wouldn't really be unrealistic, either.

It really comes down to attitude: can you enjoy being in the top 10%, or are you compelled to unhappy about being in the bottom 99%?
