excuses? either of those teams can beat just about any other team in the land on a good day. MSU returns just about every starter from last year and have a proven excellent QB.

I wonder if you have been keeping up with college football very long. just using the word acceptable is condescending. Miami and Florida have a long and storied history and MSU has had some damn good teams over the years, whether it is acceptable to you or not. and this is one of those years that MSU is predicted to have one of those damn good teams.

Well if you want to give LSU a L to two of UF, UM, MSU then they better beat Bama, AU and UGA.

This needs to be a 10 win season.

I agree with you about MSU.

They aren’t the doormat they have been, but they also have a first year HC and are playing in TS.

They also went 4-4 in the SEC last year and aren’t some title contender either. Just because they beat us by 30+ doesn’t mean they were anything special. They got shitstomped by 30+ themselves the next two weeks in a row after us against UGA and Auburn.

It wouldn’t necessarily be a must win if it hadn’t been for the absolute humiliation they put us through last year. But if O wants to get the doubters off his back, losing to MSU for the second straight year in TS is absolutely not the way to start.

It’s also the last game before the bye week before Alabama.

O does NOT want a loss to MSU’s first year HC to be the last thing the fans and players hear about before that two week break.

LSU needs to win that game, absolutely.

That's not true. 2016 we lost Wisconsin, Auburn, Alabama, and Florida.

I was talking about the two previous coaching regimes, but you’re right.

But the last coach got fired midway through that year because it looked like we were going down that path.

I should have said “an LSU coach has only lost 4 regular season games three times since 2001.”

2016 only gives my point more weight. Four losses isn’t acceptable.

Great analysis. Burrow’s rapid development will make or break our season. Too bad we have no cupcake games to open the season with. Gonna be fun to watch. My big hope is that by Ala our offense is rolling.

I think people are overrating Georgia.

R. Smith, I. Wynn, S. Michel and N. Chubb are gone.
Smith was dominating on defense.

Fromm is good, but if you look at his passing numbers, they are very much like Etling's. Georgia's receivers are good, but not great.

And Kirby is not nearly as good as people think. He absolutely blew 2 games his first year and his stubbornness running Chubb when Sony was gashing Alabama cost them the title.

If Burrow is what everyone thinks, and O and E are actually good coaches, Georgia should be a win.

Then what? What are you going to do if they don’t meet your acceptability standard?

Completely agree.

They will be good, but this is the kind of game championship teams and coaches find ways to win at home.

I think that’s probably overstating it a bit. The defense will be very good and Fromm is at least battle tested and won’t give the game away even against our great D.

I’ll say this, I’ll be more surprised by a win at Auburn than I will be a win over UGA at home.

Y'all, Mississippi State is good. It ain't 2004. They *should* have beaten Bama last year. They don't recruit as well as LSU, and Mullen was a god-awful playcaller in big games, but that's it. And now Moorhead's a better playcaller and recruiter than Mullen.

Mississippi State's good.

Record of 7-5 or below- Orgeron and Alleva both fired

Record of 9-3 or 8-4 - Alleva goes and let your new AD take a good look at the program. I would probably be willing to give O one more season with this record, depending on how the season shakes out.

Record of 10-2 or better - Orgeron is showing signs of being able to run a top notch program. I will be more of a believer.

Mississippi State is still Mississippi State until proven otherwise. Orgeron has to beat them consistently to be able to keep his job.

we match Miles record in his second year, I assume that qualifies "O" to get a pay raise equal to Miles and an automatic extension after each season? After all Miles didn't leave him a JR or Flynn quality QB.

you clearly dont remember 2005 Jruss.
and you damn sure dont remember 2004 jruss.

Ya..the excuses should be pretty much out the door. Oh wait...are we too young again?

Mississippi State went 4-4 in the SEC last year.

They aren’t the doormat they once were, but they also aren’t as good as we made them look last September.

Ask UGA and Auburn how good MSU is.

They haven’t been a doormat since Mullen got there, and we were still 7-1 against him until last year.

For his own sake, O needs to beat MSU’s first year HC in TS or it is going to be a very long two week break going into the Alabama game.

Let the record show that, on an LSU message board in the year of our lord 2018, I was informed that the fourth- or fifth-best team in the SEC was, in fact, bad.

I would feel a whole lot better about next season if the schedule wasn’t stacked. I think the team will be better than the record says.
