LR's a nice town, but the whole state has a Lil Abner complex. I interviewed for a job in LR, and all the people wanted to talk about was how they had their own teeth and they all worse shoes and such. Seriously. And the weird thing is, the people I worked with there were just as bright, educated and capable as people I'd worked with in L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, etc. It's a pretty insulated little state, but the inferiority complex thing is by and large unwarranted.

My wife's grandmother lives in Little Rock. She's 85 and is a nice little Baptist lady. But she has been talking trash, to the rest of the family about LSU when we're out of ear's distance this Thanksgiving. And I can assure you she's not joking. The arrogance is most definitely very thick with some of the hog fans. She'll serve dinner to us when her hogs lose Saturday...but she is going to be PO'd and won't say a word to us. She'll probably wring her dish rag into our tea like the waitress on the Direct TV commercial.

So much hostility. I have a staff sergeant in my unit that's a die hard LSU fan. I give him shite about his beloved Bayou Bengals and he gives me shite about the Hogs. We don't ever take it to heart though, just good,competitive fun.

She is an awesome lady and I care very much for her But we absolutely can't talk about the series with her.
What would happen if LSU loses? We'd congratulate her and let it be. And she would go on and on throughout the evening talking trash as she's done in past victories. She's definitely a firecracker! That's the risk you take when you marry into a mixed SEC family like I did.

I agree that you generally get what you give. I like Arky fans relative to most other SEC foes. I find them usually humble and self-deprecating.
So, I don't begrudge them their time to swagger if their team is earning it.
Fact: LSU can be a hostile visit for opponents fans...i.e. not all are affable cajuns with jambalaya pots and beer eager to share...many LSU fans are in denial about this (certain percentage of fans can be uncouth douchebags to visitors), but the reputation precedes us.
My perspective has been that the LSU/Arky rivalry has been the most good natured one.
Looking forward to a good game hogs!!

In my experience growing up, most of these "nice little Baptist ladies" are judgemental bitches on wheels.
