Well, Bama, Mich, and OSU went thru a few duds before they understood the value of the checkbook

Unfortunately, LSU will have to go thru Alleva and O, before the same thing happens here

I agree Alleva took the easy way out, but none of the names listed in the OP have anywhere near the pedigree of Saban, UM, or Harbaugh, not even close. Herman doesn't fit the description, either. 5-7 years from now it will be interesting to see what the coaches that keep being named have accomplished.

Agree 100 per cent, Alleva has to be the laziest arse AD that any school has ever had. Only in Louisiana would the greatest university hire a guy who had thrown the Duke Lacrosse team and their coach under the bus and it all gets swept under the rug. How in the heck were we to first fire our coach and the man doesn't even conduct an exhaustive search for a Head coach. It really is unbelievable. O is a good man and all but I truly believe after sitting through the Florida game, he is not ready for the gig.

You need to throw F King into the mix as well. I suspect part of the reason JA didn't want a "bidding war" is because you have a President bemoaning the fact that a football coach would get north of 5 million at a time he's trying to tell anyone who will listen that LSU is broke.

JA doesn't want to deal with backtracking agents (understandable, but part of the process) and King doesn't want to pay massive dollars even though LSU athletics is for business purposes a separate fully functional multi million dollar entity

And how do you know Alleva didn't reach out to those or others? Would you prefer they release a list of all the declines? That would make LSU look really good.

Serious question, how do we get rid of Joe Alleva?

Have to put pressure on his boss. Or quit buying tickets. The latter is going to happen anyway, but I don't know that there's a way to speed it up.

Write letters to the Governor, F. King, LSU Board of Supervisors, Board of Regents, The Advocate, Senators, Representatives, etc. The letters should indicate the public's desire for change coupled with a "lack of enthusiasm" to donate funds to LSU, politicians, etc. Every single letter/email should encourage others to talk about this topic to others in the community, thus encouraging them to also write letters/emails.
The leadership at LSU (F. King & Alleva) has embarrassed alumni as well as Louisiana residents with their constant blunders and missteps. Our credibility as a university (and a state) has been severely damaged by these administrators and it is time for a change. There is only ONE PERSON who can pick up the phone and make all of this happen....John Bel Edwards. The problem is that he is a liberal, and so is the LSU administration. But, if JBE thinks he is losing political capital due to this issue, he will throw these two clowns (JA & F King) under the bus in a heartbeat.
PLEASE WRITE LETTERS TO EVERYONE ASAP.

Who were they? Vetting and interviewing coaches are two different things.

I can ask about a coach, check his background with others, but sitting in front of the man to see if he's qualified are diffent things.

Of course, Joe doesn't know shite about football so he could have had interviews with 100 coaches and still screwed this up.

Agree100%. We screwed up when we hired Aleva. The ones responsible for hiring him and going cheap are also to blame.

Orgeron wouldn't have been considered as the Indiana head coach. I

Ironic that you would use Indiana, as they just promoted from within.

I honestly thought Orgeron had no chance after the UF loss. That game was inexcusable. The team was unprepared and unmotivated.

A side note to this is that LSU never beats UF in day games. We own their asses at night in both locations but, I can't Remember the last time we beat them in daylight.

Back on point, Joe Alleva is a wrecking ball of LSU athletics. Everything he has touched has declined. I'll give him credit for the facilities upgrades. TS looks great.

The last day game vs UF prior to this year was 2013. We beat them.

2011 was a day game as well, and we killed them.

Why wasn't James Franklin ever brought up? This guy brought Penn State back from the death penalty in record time. What he has done there is nothing short of amazing.

Alleva need to be run the frick out of Baton Rouge Pitch fork and torch style.

Orgeron was a stop gap to place the program in a holding pattern until Saban retires. He may not last until Saban retires, but he gets LSU closer to that day without having to break the bank in getting there.

I was hopeful about Alleva but now I am on the side of "get him the frick out"

There's no way if joe would have thrown Gundy 5.5million for 5 years he would've turned it down. He would have made the offense exciting and Aranda would have had the defense to back him up. We needed offense but just settled for ole O. Gundy. Fleck. Hell even fedora would have been better I feel. Now were just stuck with a cheerleader coach and a lame duck ad. Really sucks fire miles and pay a d line coach 3 million.
