My review on Joe Alleva (a week later)

I am somehow even more disappointed. I'm not mad at Ed for getting his dream job. He took what Alleva offered. I'm mad that Joe did not conduct a real coaching search when we had the first opening, and then when it was time to make negotiations for Herman (young, innovative, high ceiling), left without a fight and surrendered. Michigan and Ohio State got relevant when they opened the checkbook. Alleva chose to settle at LSU with a man who does not bring an innovative way to score on Alabama and revamp the offense, which is what he stated he was looking for. If Orgeron is as good as his coordinators, he is not the head coach we need at LSU to continue the program that Saban rose from the dead.
There are plenty of good coaches out there right now (Fleck, MacIntyre, even Gundy despite his mullet). Orgeron wouldn't have been considered as the Indiana head coach. I fear he made an emotional decision that has a much lower ceiling than these other up and comers. We need a real athletic director for LSU to get back to excellence. Our interim didn't knock it out of the park. He lost two games with an elite roster, one to a mediocre Florida team. He did not knock his audition out of the park by any stretch.
I hope Ed Orgeron does a great job, but this is a big stage. I don't know if he's cut out for it.

Fleck, Is a Winner, the guy can Coach the offense and motive the heck outta his players.

The coaching search was a clinic in ineptitude, provincialism, and cheapness. Now we have to pray for the unlikely rehabilitation of a deposed Ole Miss coach that no one wanted. It could happen, hope it does, but our program shouldn't hinge on something so risky and improbable.

Joe Alleva is the problem. Joe Alleva has been the problem. He is incompetent.

If it is not going to work I hope it shows up quickly. No 8-4 shite that prolongs the agony. Just go 3-9 next year and get rid of Alleva and do a real search.
Don't get me wrong, I want O to knock it out of the park and be here a long time..... would be great! Just don't think it will happen. Would rather it be a quick decisive failure than a slow drip back to the 90's.
Thanks Alleva! You suck!!!!

Clam..... unfortunately I agree with you. Feel like Alleva has packed LSU for a trip to mediocrity! This coaching change was made to put LSU to the next level....unfortunately we had a moron leading the search.

This couldn't possibly be more accurately and eliquently stated. This was such a lazy, regrettable hire that it makes reasonable heads spin. LSU, a top 2 job opening this offseason (Texas), was made to accept an interim simply because he talked liked some of the fan base. We are a joke. We are being laughed at. Only the turtle, alligator, and opossum eaters can't see that we are a laughing stock and the Ed O simply isn't up to par.
I've noticed a ton of new posters here this past week. I can't help but think this is some sort of massive PR scheme to help the real fans accept this is what "we" wanted. I refuse to believe the LSU fan base is this fricking stupid.

As long as Alleva remains in his position the future of LSU athletics will decline to the point where we will perennial contenders and nothing more. We've already witnessed the demise of hoops and can football remain relevant under his tutelage? I hope for the best but am braced for less. Never liked the hire especially when you see how he handled his previous spot at Duke.

Well, Bama, Mich, and OSU went thru a few duds before they understood the value of the checkbook
Unfortunately, LSU will have to go thru Alleva and O, before the same thing happens here
Remember, Miles stuck around a long time before anyone in power realized that we were underperforming. I think the Exodus will be much quicker under O tho, because he has no tried and true philosophy to fall back on

Actually the writing was on the wall when we fired less and Joe said he wanted to hire from within first

Dave Aranda being on staff is all he has going for him

One of my big reasons for wanting to keep Les was I had zero faith in Alleva. I've stated from day 1 we better hope Les outlast Joe.
Just think about Skip for one second. Throw out if you think he was a good AD. That guy was a champion, and knew how to spot championship quality in people. There is a reason he chose Les over schmucks like Bobby Petrino.
I hope O proves me wrong. I just don't see it. And if Les would have been fired last season and O was named coach. Not one person would have been on board.

Joe has botched literally every hire he's made here outside of Beth, who wasn't his target. Basketball is one thing but this hire for our football team is incredibly dangerous. I hope it works with O but I don't think it will. Also I know O is known as an incredible recruiter but hes looking like shite on the trail right now and our visitor list this weekend is extremely underwhelming.

And in reality, he botched that one too when you consider they had a press conference for the Alabama coach to announce him and then he pulled out one day later. He botched the hiring process yet again. Time and again he has embarrassed himself when hiring coaches. Thankfully his second attempt turned out to be pretty good in that case.

Serious question, how do we get rid of Joe Alleva?
