You judge a Tiger fan by bow many articles of clothing he owns, not by his giving history or TAF point total.

He's smart. He's quirky. Solid coach. Amazing recruiter. And a damn good person.

But he sure in the hell is not well spoken. I want my upvote back.

Do you have anything named after you on campus?

If so what is it?

Alleva was on his way out when cutcliffe was hired. May not be directly because of him.

The coach before cutcliffe was a failure. The baseball coach at duke was a failure, he even stood by him after it was found out he was giving steroid to his players. So far alkeva hasn't made one good hire. To think Trent Johnson was good is laughable. Jones can recruit, but so far these teams don't look like they are coached very well.

I find this interesting. People bang on Joe a lot. However, when I look at his hires, I don't see them as bad as others do. He did hire Cut at Duke, Duke is having the most success in football in years. He hired Trent, Trent is one of 7 undefeated coaches right now at t.c.u., he's won conference championships in pac 12, s.e.c., and can do it in the big 12 this year. Trent also left lsu in decent shape for jones. He hired Johnny Jones, This appears to be our best b.b. team since trent's first year and he is improving the b.b. team each year. (we are in year three). He hired beth torino, she appears to be a future rock star in the softball. she already has one c.w.s. appearance and recruits like all get out. He hired caldwell, well, it doesn't appear to be working here at lsu. However, she was a rockstar at u.c.l.a. when he hired her. She was suppose to be a can't miss.

So, we can give him a failing grade for Caldwell. Outside of that, i'm not sure why people feel he can't hire a good coach. I think the people that don't like him, don't because he hasn't fired les miles. However, he was in the process of doing as such in 2010. That year miles won 10 games and tied joe's hands. In 2011 he went 13-0. Yet, these people feel he should have been fired after the 14th game. so what do you do?

Good post but the majority of people here are have no soul and aren't happy unless they are tearing someone apart. Be prepared. It's. Like high school girl drama.

So he did hire cutcliffe before he cane to LSU.

quote:

Alleva began as athletic director in 1998. Alleva hired three football coaches in his 11 years: Carl Franks, Ted Roof, and David Cutcliffe. Franks' record in his five years was 7-45, including two 0-11 seasons. Roof fared no better, going 6-45 until being fired in 2007. Despite an initial preference for former UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell, Alleva eventually settled on Cutcliffe as Roof's replacement.[2]Cutcliffe would eventually go on to win ACC Coach of the Year in 2012. His first baseball coach hired was Bill Hillier who compiled a 121-214 record before being fired in 2005 amid allegations of implicitly encouraging steroid use among his players.

Sorry, this dude does not need to hire our next Football coach.

If you have any influence at all you should use it to get LSU admin to pressure changes at the SEC. Move it out of Alabama and to a non SEC state. Whether it's crooked or not there is an appearance of impropriety, which has begun to affect interest (I know it has mine). Also fix the refs, again whether they are crooked or not they make horrible calls and with replay and digital tv its painfully obvious. They have to do better, maybe even make it a full time job instead of having a bunch of part time stockbrokers, surely the mighty SEC can afford to pay refs year round and make them train. You need to give more btw, not in the top 50 makes you slacker.

I have followed this Board for a number of years and really enjoy some of the threads. Great to see so many people so passionate about something I am also passionate about.

I love LSU sports and look forward to sharing what my thoughts, opinions and facts are. We all on here have sources....so off we go

I’m glad Les is staying because I have seen so many hiring’s at LSU directly go very wrong when they looked so great. This is true of ALL schools; my buddy at Tide Pride can tell you about the 4 guys who came between their 1992 NC and Nick...not much fun there. Now, IMHO Les needs to win more in next few years than 8-4 and if he starts losing he will be gone.

I think he will win again, and big, he has shown the ability and I like him...a lot. I also see some good in Joe, but the ability to hire a major head coach in football (with Ch. Alexander and the current BOS) is a very tall order and frankly outside his skill set.
