When I graduated college in December of 1990, I began a weather forecaster internship making $4.50 per hour. The two senior forecasters were making around 33k per year.

Left that job and worked for a milk factory making $5.00 an hour

Left that job for an aviation weather career where I earn $39.22 per hour.

He could always do some scantily clad tik tok vids. I’ve heard that’s lucrative.

How much are minor leaguers salaries?

This guy has some really insightful videos on Minor and Major League Baseball.
MiLB is an incredibly tough lifestyle.

Yeah I’m sure he’d tell any team willing to draft him “I know it’s been my lifelong dream to play professional baseball and you guys are willing to allow me to do just that, but I changed my mind. Thanks anyway.”

You would be surprised what an ex football player can make. I knew a former OL that could have gone pro but hurt his knee and didn’t get drafted. He got a job with a certain construction company making 150K per year.

I’m not sure what you guys think Minor Leaguers make, but it’s really not very much.

true, but OP specifically said MLB, which is The Show
league minimum is $720K.

but apparently there is a job in Baton Rouge that will pay him $7.2 mil a year.

other than the job Brian Kelly currently has, I don't what other jobs in Baton Rouge pay that much.

No he couldn’t. How many former football/baseball/basketball players live in BR are making north of 250k that aren’t Dr’s, lawyers, or business owners?

That’s good, but he wrote…

Their room and board are paid for but not their meals. They pay a weekly clubhouse fee during the season.

Negative. Maybe with what the MILB is paying him. If he makes the Big Leagues (MLB) he will be very well taken care of.

Just like most professions, you start with a chance and you work your way up. Baseball, for most people (not Paul Skenes ) is one of those work places.

Agreed. We know what the original post meant. Why jump on it? It was about a nice kid playing baseball and wishing he got a bigger contract.

Yep the minor leagues is a tough life and Dugas is likely to be there for a while if he ever makes it to the majors. But I'm sure it's his dream to give it a go.

One angle I haven’t seen yet is that it could be good for building a coaching resume?

too lazy to look it up but the state of FL, under pressure from MLB lobbyists, recently signed into law an exception to pay rookie/minor league baseball players well below the minimum wage required in the state, the figure that I read was right at or below $10/hr., which if you factor how much time they are obligated to the job per day over the course of the season is probably lower than that

Poor Gavin, has to get 20K just to accept a job and then get paid to chase his dream.

I made 38K my first year out of college at a job I hated. I think he will be ok
