I am a pretty solid Miles fan (for now). As I think about the last 30 - 45 days and all that Alleva fricked up I can't help but wonder how Miles is not getting more credit for righting the ship.

I know, I know, the only thing that really matters for a (too) large portion of our fanbase is beating the team that has the "A" on the uniforms, but when you look at the shite storm created by Alleva and folks I am amazed that a fool such as Miles can pull back together the #1 class, hire a great DC, and generate this much excitement.

If he delivers on the field next year I hope it permanently quiets his critics.

Is that team Arkansas? He isn't having that much success against them at this point. I think we should work on beating up on Arkansas before we set our sights on Bama again.

Recruiting has never been an issue for Miles, and he's hired one of the best recruiting staffs in the country.

None of these kids signed on to play for the AD. All they needed to know what that the HC was still going to be on the sidelines. Don't give the credit to Miles for maintaining this class despite Alleva's screw-up, give the credit to Miles for building the relationships with these recruits over the last several months, or in some cases, years.

Could be first consensus #1 class in program history. Big reason I didn't want to blow everything up. Good to see Alleva get behind Les and bring in a young DC.

Super post.

Alleva is no fan of LSU football.

Think if we had an AD that helped instead of hindered.

Miles will be golden if he fixes his November problem with the tougher members of SECW. However, if he doesn't find a QB and offensive scheme that can get playmakers the ball in open space, he will get his azz run off. Came quite close this year.

No. Nothing justifies the athletic director publicly undermining the current football coach. If you want to fire him, you fire him. It's fricking stupid to keep him on staff while at the same time give every other school something to use to negatively recruit.

Having said that, if this class finishes in the way it looks, Miles and his staff would have done an unbelievable job. Honestly, it's elite. I don't think there is a staff in the country who could have held the program together in the face of what Alleva did to this staff

Say what you want about Miles. But, this is a HUGE accomplishment.

And Miles deserves a lot of credit for that

What does Miles do with top 8 talent? Underachieve. I'll give him credit when it results in something other than the Acme Widget Bowl on December 29th and a ranking in the teens.

Too many people don't recognize the threat we were facing a month and a half ago.

Think about what would have happened if, as a result of Alleva basically giving a public "no confidence" vote, the recruiting class would have tanked.

We'd be sitting here with a coach that couldn't convince recruits to come play here, with an administration that just failed to remove Miles. The program would have been at REAL risk.

What Miles has done with this class has been tremendous. Obviously, the rest of the staff deserves a ton of the credit as well. But, to accomplish what they did in the face of the self-inflicted wounds of the AD is nothing short of remarkable.

The biggest point is that, barring another debacle by the administration, the "program" is in great shape and will stay that way under Miles. Worse case scenario, Miles just can't get us back to winning big. So, he steps down or is fired. Because of the recruiting excellence, the next coach should be able to hit the ground running. There should be NO rebuilding effort.

Texas didn't have that luxury. Florida didn't have that luxury. It's not something that should be taken for granted.

It is a step in the right direction and is the necessary first step to building a team to beat the dreaded A's

I completely agree with you, but I just don't have any faith in his offense. He has proven more times than not that he can't field a competent offense. Miles always reels me back in as a Miles fan every off season and makes me look stupid when I defend him. Not this year. I will remain optimistic with no comment.

Not true at all. Finishing better than 3rd in the division is what matters.
