What exactly did Detiller say? He is not known for giving positive reviews just for the helluva it.
I didn't catch all of it, but did him say that from what he's seen/heard he expects JJ to have a very good season.
That JJ is very confident and seems ready to break out.

I do remember buzz around JJ last Manning camp.

we'll see how that translates when it's 3rd and 12 while pouring down raining in bryant denny stadium and we're one possesion behind in the 4th
i think we will have a very shitty season if we are still waiting until the bama game to see if jj has improved.

Looks like it's a done deal. Time to redo the mock NFL drafts

Forgive me for bringing the JJ compliments to your attention from a local and respected NFL analyst.
Next time the championship is in NOLA and we have a senior qb leading a preseason top 5 ranked LSU team I'll remember to not get excited when he draws great reviews from his new OC and some of the biggest names in the qb'ing business.
You mf'ers make me sick.

Detillier's word was gold last year when he said miles doesn't develop players.

Aaron Brooks is one of the greatest Saints QB's of all time?

I think the kid is getting the support he needs. He has the talent just needs to break though the mental. I got faith

JJ and Jason Campbell are virtually identical. Before his senior year, Campbell got a new OC, Borges, and the light came on. Prior to his senior year, he was indecisive and looked lost on the field.
Except JJ had the same OC the first 3 years while Campbell had a different OC every year he was at Auburn. Right? I don't keep up with Auburn, but I thought that was an argument given for Cambpell.

It can happen for JJ too.
Yes it definitely can.

but if you really listen to him in interviews, he is not dumb.

Irrelevant as JJ will start every game this year barring injury.

Obviously this will be settled on the field. It is definitely possible that JJ has significantly improved and make many eat crow.
However I dont think an objective observer could rule out the real possibility that when the pads come and the teams line up JJ regresses and that improvement is not shown.
I personally think that those who invested emotionally are in for a much bigger letdown if JJ fails than the ones who doubt him and he succeeds because those will have the luxury of a good LSU season if JJ proves them wrong and he turns out to be an adequate SEC qb.
My personal opinion is we are going to see some nice improvement in games like the Oregon game where he has plenty of prep time and a little improvement in the week by week games but not enough and not consistent enough to convince people he has completely got it. Hence I look again for an up and down JJ maybe 15% overall better than last year but not enough to get them to the NC if he is the starting qb all year. Or maybe I should say the only qb who plays significant time.
I think jj hurts himself with his statements and demeanor and would really think reguardless of how he plays a personal media coach would do JJ wonders. Who knows maybe he already has one and listens to him or her as much as he listens to Petyon and ELI??????????

Poor play couldn't unseat him last year, because the alternative was worse.
Not the case this year.

They say that every year. I hope this time they have it right, but the proof is in the pudding.

I can't remember for the life of me hearing mike detillier, Jesse Palmer, John gruden, chris mortenson, or hell anybody outside of LSU's coaching staff saying j lee in 08 and JJ in 09 & 10 saying anything positive about our QB situation during the summer or any other time.

I looked for them and there aren't any.

Ok, so he doesn't know who Thomas Jefferson is. In his defense, I think I read where about 2% of 12th graders in America can tell you who America fought in WWII. Very few students know history these days. I'll give JJ a break on that one.
With that being said, I don't know how you can determine if JJ is intelligent or dumb from his interviews. He seems like the average football player. That's not saying much, and most people would find that insulting. But guys like Vince Young and Cam Newton were great FB players, but to me sounded really dumb.(Which is why I find it amusing when someone makes a comment like "Man, that Steven Ridley is really well spoken", and receives a reply calling him a racist. The comment was made not because he's black, but because very few football players sound smart in interviews.) This is coming from someone that has little faith in JJ. But I can be more than fair to the guy and, as an LSU fans, hope he gets it together.

I was just picking with the George comment. I don't think JJ is dumb. I don't think he's smart, but he's not dumb.
