I've always favored Ridley in the game and was not amongst those crying for him to get playing time earlier this year, but it looks to me like he has something the other backs have when it comes to big play potential. I know LSU fans despise this idea, but I think running a UF spread with the running backs we have and all the options that we have fits our personel better than anything else. I know we have great wide recievers, but we don't throw it that much as it is now.

You know, he DOES miss blocks regularly. I agree. Thats not as much of a problem now as it use to be because we don't do much when we have time to throw the ball anyways.

First, I think this WR corps is over-rated. Probably mediocre at best compared to what Florida, Georgia and Carolina have. They drop Waaaayyy too many catchable passes-which has also made JJ and JL look bad. Had LSU receivers caught the dozens of passes they've dropped, LSU wouldn't be near the bottom of the FBS stats in passing.

I think Crowton probably wants to run a west coast-type spread offense but Michigan-man Miles likes the smash mouth, 3 yards and a cloud of dust, in your face, grindhouse football. The problem is LSU O has no identity in what it really is this year.

I think Ware is the best of the back ups. His TD was very nice. Laid a hit on the defensive player that was unblocked and then scored. Very nice

I agree with this.

Also, IMHO I think that Ridley is starting to wear down and and the fresh back ups need to get more reps.

Spencer Ware seems to be more physical but ford looks to have great vision and cutting ability. I think they complement each other nicely.

We need to be running more Ford and Ware.

Ford has the quickest feet of the bigger backs. Quick, choppy steps. He has the potential to be our best all around runner. Looks to have the ability to run inside or outside, and can break long runs with his good top end speed.

I like Ridley a lot, but no way would he have scored on the botched pitch play. He can't get outside like Ford can.

His inside running is pretty awful though, because of this. If there isn't a three yard wide hole, he sits in one spot and dances.

Micheal Ford is NOT better than Stevan Ridley and he will soon be behind Spencer Ware as well. Ford is a very serviceable back, but it is clear now that we have gotten a good look at him, that he is not the "game changer" we were hoping for.

In the SEC, in the BIG games, being able to tough out that 3rd and 1 or 4th and inches is what wins. It might not be sexy, and it doesn't make the highlight reels like those flashy runs against the weak sisters does....but the way Ridley runs is an absolute MUST if you want to win against the big boys. Ridley is better than Ford at this and while I am sure that he will find a niche for himself on this team, I think when push comes to shove, he will always be behind Ridley, Ware and probably Hilliard when he arrives here.

What games have you been watching? Ford looks to be the best of the bunch IMO, to say that he is just a "serviceable" back is just plain dumb, give him another year and i will bet you Ford is the starter

a lot closer than you may think...both are really good backs...both very powerful, ford probably is quicker with more break away speed...

i'm hoping one of the backs coming in next year will be a home run, either hilliard or hill..

I wish that's the offense we ran. At least then we would be playing to our strengths.

You do realize that Ford is the smallest of the running backs with Gore playing slot receiver? He is 5'10" - 202 lbs and can't block SEC linebackers. He is a very good runner but he has plenty to work on before he can play as an every down back. Ridley is the best of the backs and all of the current underclassmen look promising.

True. But on the other hand Ridley probably would've caught the pitch and not botched the play. And Ford isn't going to score on that in SEC games.
