quote:i didn't post back when but I talked to his dad back during the beginning of the season. He and Melvin were both pretty pissed about the position change. Mr. Jones said he was probably transferring back to McNeese after this season (what was said back then). This was Sometime during September.
Melvin Jones should have been a MLB from the day he stepped on campus
You do realize position changes are voluntary right?
Jones agreed to it

So because he was a good LB at a 3A high school along the Bayou Teche district, he would have been the best at LSU. Kwon would think different and apparently Chavis and Les felt the same way.
Same school/district Dalton Hilliard went to. You saying because he played near the Bayou Teche we shouldn't have signed him?

Please shut up. You sound ignorant.

come on dude.... give it a rest. we all understand thats your boy, but this is getting borderline retarded. no one is saying that.
what you are still failing to do is acknowledge the fact that the kid couldn't make a 2.0.

I've seen all our current Louisiana LBs in high school and Kenny was more impressive. I'm not saying he should of played LB because obviously he was needed to be a RB plus that's what Kenny wanted to play anyways. All I'm saying is that he was the most impressive compared to the ones I saw play in high school. BTW Javedon Clowney played for a small school against less competition.

Neither guys would have seen the field at LB.
Would Melvin Jones start over Beckwith or Kwon? No.
Would Hillard start over guys like Minter, Barrow, Kwon, Beckwith, etc? No.
But sure, we should have moved them to LBer so they could never see the field instead of puttting tbem where they can get on the field and help the team out, which is the most important thing.
And I hope you realize how many guys we have that were great at other positions in high school as well... Most of these guys were the best players on the field, regardless what position they played. That doesn't mean that they should have played a different position.
The Jones to LBer is a more realistic argument then Hilliard should have been a LBer here. Sorry but that's just dumb.

Melvin jones was moved to FB for a reason. He can't maimtain a 2.0 GPA what makes you think he can learn Chavis' defense?

Any questions?
You do realize he flunked out and is no longer on the team?

Melvin could still be here with more effort and less apathy in the classroom.
But looking at the LB play, I have wondered why, given LSU's struggles to get quality depth, he did not remain at LB in his college career.
He has the size, speed and talent to contribute there. But he also proved to be a capable FB most of the time.

Like others have said, wouldn't have changed his grades

Melvin jones error was he should have taken bamas offer. The first one who gave notice. He got all up in a tizzy when we offered, but he didn't do his homework his measurable a don't fit Chavis style! Good move by les in not having to play against him. Bad move by his parents. Same as Smith but they threw him a bone so he will probably stay. Kids need to go where they have athletes like them. Just like the quinn kid, would have replaced Sammy Watkins and flourished. Not saying he couldn't here but that's not our offensive style and he wasn't necessarily ready for SEC ball per se

He wasn't happy so grades suffered
Posted on 1/23/15 at 3:26 pm to Sal Minella
Lmao touché
So he got the TQ treatment must be against Lake Charles players. Smith was pine stricken last year.

You have a point.
Kids need to go where they have athletes like them.
Thats the advice I would give my kid, and go where you're wanted and not where you want to go.

Kenny was a very good LB, he could cover ground and would knock your head off. This was also when he's was about 220 once he gain weight I don't think LB'ER would have been a option
