30. Hopefully we are recruiting some of the undeclared big guys in that game. Forget the guards, we have plenty of those.

Our guys may be really good but that was awful basketball last night.

All All-Star games are especially high schoolers. You're watching 17 and 18 year olds from all over the country that have been together for 3 days. Not sure exactly what you were expecting

With the team he has coming in next year Jones should be watching hours upon hours of Iowa St. tape. Their concept of spacing the floor and free flowing offense should be the carbon copy for LSU to utilize next season.

It depends on his rebounding. That is one of his "weaknesses." He'll have no trouble getting double digit points and assists.

I don't think he has trouble rebounding...

Still think assists will be difficult for him to get, but it's possible.

Exactly. it's like fans watching the football all-american games and people assuming the offensive lineman suck with the typical heavy pass rush. There's no cohesiveness when 5 guys who have never played together are learning a crash course blocking scheme

Exactly. And naturally, kids who were the studs on their HS teams all want to score and shoot

That's why I put weakness in quotes. That's one of the areas I have seen the "experts" identify as something he can improve. I don't really know if it is a relative weakness or not. FWIW, he didn't stand out as a great rebounder in the AA game. I know that doesn't mean much.

C'mon Coach. It was an all star game. There was a lot of rushed, bad shots and not a ton of effort on the glass. I'm not saying that Simmons can't be a good rebounder, but I'm not going to look at an All Star game as the basis for that opinion either way

There's is nothing to get. I was regurgitating what I had read and heard from "experts" about his game. I didn't really see him going aggressively after rebounds in the AA game. Most of what I have seen of him has been highlight videos which don't show rebounds. If you want to go off the stats, then fine, he was a great rebounder. I don't know one way or the other, just what I have heard from those I assume have watched him more closely in full games.

I've seen him live at least a half dozen times. Most of the time, that's been with very large men playing under the goal with him. When it wasn't... he took care of the boards. I suspect he'll be in the 8-10 range next year rebound wise. Plenty, plenty good enough.

As far as last night, I'd like you to recall the moment Briscoe took too long to pass to Blakeney in the corner. Shot was then rushed and Ben grabbed rebound and got fouled (really, grabbed 2 that trip). That was in the paint vs Rabb (who was not going soft) and another big man. When he needs to rebound, he does.

tl;dr Don't worry about rebounding.

Yeah. I do recall that. That was one of the few times anyone on the East really "fought" for a rebound.

Thanks for the info. As I said, I have never seen him play a full game, much less live, so I don't know whether the critiques were valid or not.

If you wanna see Ben Simmons play in a real game with his team, please put it on ESPNU in like 5 minutes.
