If Mainieri's crappy recruiting and game prep would quit rubbing off on Trent we'd be in good shape.

If our season was going to live or die by Derenbecker, then we were fricked in the first place. Maybe Eddie can shrink, learn how to shoot, and dribble, and rebound, and play defense....and not be terrible. Future looks good.

I know this is the wrong board....but nothing he said was racial.......

On the subject.....MD was gonna be a role player, at best. It just sucks that we can't keep players with the situation being like it is right now.

Doesn't look well on TJ

As someone who grew up on Dale Brown basketball, and ripped out finger nails supporting Bradey, I am finding it impossible to much more faith in our current fearless leader...

I don't mean to overstate it, but I thought Derenbecker was something of a bright spot on a team that didn't have much talent. Would love to know the "real story" here, whatever it is, but it sure does look the SS Trent is sinking. It causes me physical pain to see where our hoops program is right now.

Nola.com article got updated:seems like personal issues.

main quote:

quote:

"After some discussion with my family and the coaching staff, I have decided to take some time away from basketball to address some personal matters," Derenbecker said in a statement released by LSU Monday. "In doing so, I will withdraw from LSU immediately. I wish nothing but the best for my teammates and coaches as they move forward in continuing to rebuild the program.

A transfer would have been bad news for Trent.

If the team is still successful this year, it wouldn't have mattered much

T.J. needs to shite or get off the pot. It's scary when ALL hope is lost for a winning team. This program has fallen into the crapper.

The problem is we've only had one mcdonalds all-American come to LSU since Tasmin Mitchell in 2005. Basketball recruiting is awful.

yeah... I think this is the beginning of the end of the Trent era. If the back to back last place finishes weren't enough.

That's a big if dude. a transfer from one of our best players last year would put a lot more pressure on him to perform.

Lets face it, he would've been a role player at best. And a terrible defensive role player at that. I'm not saying it reflects well on the program, it doesnt. But Derenbecker wasn't going to light it up for us, just another option.

Maybe, but I can't honestly say I thought our season would hinge on Derenbecker

While there isn't much to be happy about regarding LSU basketball, this thread shouldn't be a Trent bashing thread.
