Emanuel was a projected first rounder, but went in the 3rd. Is anyone suggesting his 'overuse' by Fox in this situation resulted in his drop in the draft?

Rest/limits are needed.

Yes, coaches should be smart and most are, but it's been proven repeatedly that there are a few who aren't. These limits would be for those jackasses.

I think saying kids will go elsewhere if they think their arms will get burned out is not entirely true. I think what happens more times than not is kids go where they can win championships.

Lastly, I think it's unreasonable for the blame for long outings and high pitch counts on a pitcher when he has coaches, fans and especially team mates looking at him/relying on him to win. Many smart people make stupid decisions when they have external pressures like that...especially when you're that young.

Bottom line: College coaches SHOULD be able to do the right thing, but they've proven REPEATEDLY that they can't. Something must be done.

They are paid to win, hard to blame them for wanting to do that by making those decisions. Would also piss me off if we had a jared bradford type who wants to throw in a championship on a few days rest ....maybe because he knows he doesnt have an mlb future.

I am not for it, but Fox throwing a kid 50 pitches the day after he threw 124 is near criminal.

And don't give me this "the kid should have told him if his arm hurt"...anyone that has played a sport knows that a competitive kid would probably die on the mound if left up to him. Coaches and trainers need to protect athletes from themselves sometimes.

Felt like this deserves a bump. Indiana pitcher just threw 136 pitches in a 2-0 win. What say the board about keeping the kid in?

I say it was fine. 136 isn't anything that's going to ruin his career. and you do what you have to to win

I think with alot of this stuff you won't find out the impact till much later in his career.

I think the coach is stupid for pitching him, but its the coach's decision not the NCAA's

The kid did a fantastic job. The defensive play he made with one out in the ninth was tremendous.

Slow throwing lefty without much to look forward to after his college career. No problem at all.

At least. He wasn't laboring at all. Topped at 85 mph with lots of changes. He was fine.
