So he could definitely use LSU as a stepping stone job with an eye towards Texas and/or Bama and we'd be back into that old "Miles to Michigan" mindset every year for the next 3 years.

Look, Herman may be the second coming of Saban, he may equally be Tommy Tuberville part II. Point being, LSU got the right man for the job at the right time. I do not believe that Coach O will be a 10+ year coach the way Les was, but I do believe that he's the man we need to transition to that next coach.

I'd also love to know how many people melting down about this right now have ever once stepped on a field and strapped on a helmet and played for a coach. I'd be willing to be there's not too many.

Herman never wanted to be here.
Fisher was too expensive after last year's debacle.

Orgeron with Aranda and Kiffin or Sark is the best available. Reality is LSU is not the top tier coaching spot we all thought it was.

Don't be upset about so many wanting Herman, he was a true home run hire opportunity. That being said, we have a head coach now, and he needs to make a home run hire at offensive coordinator right away.

Good point. No one will come after O. For over a year nobody came after him as a position coach.

WHY? should LSU get in a bidding war and risk getting played (wich would affect the remaining coaching search) for a guy that has only had 1 season as a HC, and not even at a power-5 school?

WHY? other than being flavor of the month.

WHY? did tOSU go in the tank when he went to Houston? No, they carried on; just like when Miles would hire a new OC, nothing changed.

WHY? when we stand a better chance at keeping many great, not good- great, assistants that are some of the best recruiters and deal with above?

WHY? give Herman a high-level program that he would want to rebuild so it would be a stepping stone?

WHY? ANY of that if he didn't want to come here anyway. That's the thing no one seems to consider here, it is not LSU's situation to control. Manage, yes. Control, no. Because there are more variables than what LSU wants.

I think that's bogus. Blame that idiot Chris Low of ESPN for losing out on Herman. Once he leaked that the bitches at Texas went a running to suck Herman off not to go to LSU.
