Exactly

The only tourney result that would change where the Tigers land in the postseason is winning it, and even then it's a long shot.

LSU is hosting a regional regardless of what happens in Hoover. You're playing with house money in game 1. You play to win the tournament by giving yourself the best chance to beat Florida, that's pitching Lange on Wednesday.

Last time I checked Tennessee struggled against LSU no matter who was on the mound

Didn't Mainieri already say Lange was starting on Tuesday?

edit- Advocate

quote:

If Lange is not used Saturday, Mainieri now sees him as LSU’s starter on Tuesday in the SEC Tournament, should the Tigers play that day

quote:

“If we pitched him(Lange) on Saturday and we don’t get in the top-four, who do we throw Tuesday,” Mainieri said

Pitching your ace against the weakest team you play in the tournament is laughably stupid.

BOOM! but we have a lot of stoooopid in here.

Last time I checked, LSU struggled with Tennessee's Friday night starter.

He did but that was before we won the Florida series. That changed everything.

didn't PM get reamed pretty hard last year for worrying about Game 2 before winning Game 1 in Omaha

We are talking about the 12 seed in the conference. They are not a good team. Omaha gets the 8 best in the entire ncaa.

Anybody who agrees with Lange throwing on Tuesday is a moron. Tenn has two good hitters and the rest are poo poo. If you're going to try to win the tourney which I assume PM will then you play to match ups and tenn does not require an ace. You anticipate playing UF. If we go one and done we still host

Are you saying LSUs hitters aren't capable of hitting Tennessee?

I would hope not if he's watched LSU murder the cream of the crop all year

If we’re playing for the SEC championship, we might just say ‘OK, let’s go for it.’ But something less than that, I’d have hesitation to bring him back anyway.”

Would there be any concern that if Lange doesn't throw Tuesday and LSU would get bounced that he only threw about 40 ish pitches of live pitching in the two weeks before regionals starts?

Jared Bradford was the guy who pitched twice in many series because he was the most valuable arm. He would start one game and close other games. He was the prototype for Louis Coleman.

If Lange starts against Tennessee than who the hell do you start against Florida when they are gonna send their #1 against us? I bet you that Lange wants to start and is coercing CM to let him go against Florida to finish what he had started on Thursday.

Pitching Lange in Tuesday opens up the possibility of bringing him back for a Sunday Championship Game.

Lange will never pitch twice in one week while at LSU unless it is in Omaha.
