LUBBOCK, Texas -- The National College Baseball Hall of Fame announced Monday that LSU coach Paul Mainieri is the winner of the 2015 Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year Award.
Mainieri will be honored at the Hall of Fame's annual Night of Champions celebration Monday night in Lubbock. Other awards that will be presented at the event include the National Pitcher of the Year, the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year and the Brooks Wallace Award winner.

Best regular season coach in college baseball.

Was coming to post the exact same thing. I'm sure he has a great chance of winning it next year with that soft OOC schedule

Nice to see that he decided to win when it mattered most

CPM definitely deserves it, what he's able to do at an underprivileged program like ours and compete on the same level as those private schools is nothing short of remarkable

Criteria??????? Criteria??????

Time to call the Maineri haters off the ledge.

The new Intimidator will have all of Mainieri's coaching awards.

You gotta love it. Real people with real brains just busted all of the coons asses that hate Maineri.
Way to go LSU fans, show everybody how smart you are.

And how did these "real people" accomplish that?

Congrats to Coach Maineri.

He deserves nothing less for single handedly turning Alex Bregman into an All American shortstop.

Outside of Lang and Bregman coach overachieved with ths lineup. Just my 2 cents

5 titles in 10 years really spoiled the fanbase.
Now they expect one every 5 or so years, if not more.

Overachieved?
7 of 8 fielders (all those eligible) drafted in the first 17 rounds. 6 of them in the top 10.

Well your "2 cents" makes no sense.
Who else had 8 players selected in first 17 rounds? As Ell said, 6 players in first 10 rounds. I know, it's a Cinderella Story...

Then why didn't he recruit a better lineup?

Or maybe more than one win in Omaha in 6 years. CPM said it him self. Why should we feel any differently?
quote:
CPM: "That’s a tricky question because every year my expectations are to win a national championship. That’s what we go into the season to do."
quote:
Thursday before people started telling the Tigers that they expect to see them back in Omaha playing for another national championship next year.
Coach Paul Mainieri wouldn’t want it any other way.
“I sure hope so,” he said. “One of the things I’ve always prided myself in as a coach is having a really good program,” one that doesn’t seesaw up and down year to year
quote:
CPM: Quite frankly, I don’t think you can have all the resources we have available to us and make excuses
quote:
They have such high expectations of them here at LSU," Mainieri said. "I mentioned to (LSU Athletic Director) Joe Alleva after the game how it is amazing that we have won 52 ball games going into tonight, and if we didn't win this 53rd game somehow this season would have felt unfulfilled in so many ways
quote:
If we don’t win every year, people are disappointed. All I can tell you is that the kids are doing the best they can, and I’m proud of what we’ve done. And I go into every year thinking that we’re going to Omaha and winning the national championship. We’re right there. I understand that’s how we’re judged and how expectations are. I’m proud of our program and where we are
