do we really need trophies to show how much we care about a game?

This is correct. Some SGA arse-hat at LSU came up with it, and was so proud of it, it was like the top thing on his resume'.

I like the boot. Arkansas is our only possible true west rival and those games are usually nail biters regardless of what is on the line. No matter how some of you want to flatter yourself, Ole Miss would rather beat Moo State than us. Alabama would rather beat Auburn.

wasnt necessary for om, rivalry was already there.
They tried the trophy thing with ark to try to develop a better rivalry game and it just never took.
IMO moving this game to sat was a much bigger step. I hated that fri game.

You're exactly right (except for the Ole Miss comment).

" What is your biggest conference rival?
Arkansas: LSU - 67.8%
LSU: Arkansas - 2.3%"

With a disparity in views like that, it is no wonder why ArKansas has a winning record against us in recent years. We need to start taking the ArKansas game more seriously from now on, because they obviously view it as a rivalry game and therefore put far more effort into winning it.

The best questions listed on there:

"What is your favorite stadium to visit in your team's conference? LSU"

"Which school has the rudest fans for visitors? LSU"

Those two questions actually seem to negate each other...or maybe the other SEC schools' fans are just made up of masochists or something...

So Bama and Auburn have a manly titled game in the Iron Bowl, and LSU/OM has the pansy, I mean Magnolia Bowl. Wow, I will never call the OM game the Magnolia Bowl or any bowl game. Marketing people thinks this adds value to the series???

The Boot is a clunker, but the Arkie games tend to be one of the more exciting games LSU plays every season.

The Boot's ok, the "Magnolia Bowl" should be changed to "The Fight for a Giant Piece of Wood With a Golden Vagina On it"

I'm not sure where to find it, but the trophy used now was the second version. The first was a giant wood cylinder with a blooming magnolia on top. It looked EXACTLY like an erect penis. Not kind of, but to the point where you couldn't believe no one noticed that before the announcement.

I would support the idea of the Boot if it were an actual boot. After the game, every member of the winning team could put it on to kick a member of the losing team.

IMO, the boot is atrocious.

When you talk about rivals, one generation's answer may be different than another. There was a time when Tulane was a staunch rival of LSU. In the early 60s, LSU and Ole Miss were probably one of the most notorious rivalries in the country. We had quite a rivalry going with A&M during the long period when we played them first game of every season.

We've been playing Arkansas for less than 20 years. I've been out of school for longer than that. Although I still follow LSU as closely as ever now, the rivals I hated during my college days will always been the most significant to me. I guess I should add to that the rivals that my parents hated when they were in school--Ole Miss and Alabama--because that's the way I was raised.

As for that fugly boot, I could care less about it.

If we get a trophy for beating ole miss and arkansas then I think we should have a trophy for every west team we play, not just the two historically worst sec west teams

yea, on both. since no other sec teams claims us as their biggest rival, i'll take ark anyday. i wish the boot the best. and they are always up for us.
i love the magnolia, and it is the state flower of both states.
oh, our biggest rival will always be florida, and i don't want that to ever change.

Nay on the Magnolia Bowl. I live in Mississippi and never hear it called the Magnolia Bowl. But ole miss fans do consider us as their toughest rival. I disagree but ole miss fans now think they should be competing with Florida and bama for titles every year now
