Here's a real good article about it all
LINK

The Astros reconnected with Marshall two weeks ago, right about the time they would have been getting Aiken’s test results.

On Sunday, they asked Marshall to fly to Houston for a physical, but Marshall was already on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. It may be difficult to sign him now that he has begun to immerse himself in college life.

Difference there is that Zach Lee made it known that he was always negotiating with LA. Marshall is not going anywhere.

Lock it the frick down.

Houston is walking a thin line here. Realistically, they and Aiken will reach a deal. Just all depends how much more under slot than previously thought. I hope Aiken and Nix "hired" some hella good "advisors" to pinch the Astros pennies or GTFO.

The only way I could see Aiken sign for anything less than 5 million is if something really is wrong with his arm and they worry he won't get anywhere near that the next time he's in the draft.

Nix already has an agreement.

Both Nix and Aiken had agreements about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Nix signing ($1.5 mill deal in principle) was tied directly to Aiken signing under slot value, so when the physical revealed elbow damage, and the Stros backed off, it threw the whole thing for a loop. I think Luhnow is just trying to finagle the numbers to sign Aiken, Nix, and Marshall, but I think they only get UCLAs 2 haha Like you stated, the Stros are roughly $500K short of signing all 3, and they will not sacrifice next years 1st rounder, so I would expect them to sign Aiken and Nix this week.

Not a Keith Law fan but he's right about this

@keithlaw: MLB should make Brady Aiken a free agent and see how quickly another team offers him that $6.5 million.

Too bad shite doesn't work like that.

Keith Law hates the Astros because they didn't give him the job he applied for.

The point being that it's obvious why they are lowballing him so much.

If Astros are still willing to give Aiken a large deal he will take it, especially with his injury. Taking less as a #1 pick rather than risk never getting drafted again after a potential surgery, he will take the $3 million and be done with it. Astros are morons for not checking on his injury before draft or Aiken did a pretty good job of concealing it.

Oh really? So you have the reports from the Astros physical?

Nice, I'd like to see them.

There are no physicals pre draft. No way the Astros could have known.

Furthermore, I don't care where Marshall is, he will listen to any last minute offer from the Astros and if nothing else he's closer to Houston than from his hometown being at LSU. He will listen and he would be foolish not to!

You can get the info for some of the higher picks. It's been done before. I have a hard time believing that that this just appeared out of the blue.

I can guarantee you the Yankees would offer him more than $3 million even if his injury is legit.
