I hope you're not serious.

People might think I'm trolling, but they really will end up at UCLA.

But that was before the irregularity was found during Aiken's exam. It was reported here also that the Astros were looking to discount the Aiken deal, said to be for about a $1.5 million lessening, to $5 million. And if they don't work it out, Nix and Aiken could wind up as teammates at UCLA instead of Houston.

Yeah, it's a definite possibility. Which also would be good for us from an LSU-centric perspective but it'll also vault UCLA into immediate national champ contenders for a couple years.

Correct on both. No money to throw at Mac. UCLA gets two studs.

He was an 8th overall pick who was offered top 3 pick money and turned it down.
Posted on 7/11/14 at 1:48 pm to LSU=Champions
That's different than first overall offered top 3.
He literally can't be drafted higher and he now has injury concerns.
Not to mention he would be locked into college for three years.
Different than Appel. Appel didn't have any injury concerns.

I agree. Aiken will drag this to the last second

What's the consensus now guys? Are we legitimately worried now? I've read a little but am still a little confused. Is there more money to throw at Mac now or not?

I'm not getting too caught up in all this. Just wait until the 19th. All our questions will be answered by then.

I'm legitimately worried but I think Mac's developing relationship and connection to LSU and his teammates will ultimately win out.

Ah ok. Again, another waiting game. Just over a week left. Plz stay, Mac. I want to hear your song play over the loud speakers as you come to the mound.

Appel was not offered top 3 money. The Pirates offer was 3.8 million. Here's a list of the top 10 slots from the 2012 draft.
1 Astros $7,200,000
2 Twins $6,200,000
3 Mariners $5,200,000
4 Orioles $4,200,000
5 Royals $3,500,000
6 Cubs $3,250,000
7 Padres $3,000,000
8 Pirates $2,900,000
9 Marlins $2,800,000
10 Rockies $2,700,000

This pissing match between Luhnow and Aiken will be interesting to watch unfold. I really do think the Stros are trying to short change Aiken in an attempt to save money and sign both Nix and Marshall, along with Aiken. But they could still sign Aiken for the $6.5 mill they originally agreed upon and Nix for the $1.5 they originally agreed upon and have all this jabber for not. I think the Stros are trying to talk Aiken down even more to make a run at Marshall and sign all 3. I highly highly doubt Aiken is willing to take that big of a hit, so here is our problem. My bet is Luhnow realizes he is getting too greedy, goes back to original deals with Aiken and Nix then calls it a day. I do not doubt there could be elbow concerns, but to me, the Stros see 3 great pitching prospects and want to sign them all now that they drafted them. Cant blame them for trying to make the money work, but them landing 2 of 3 is still a great day. I'm at a win win being a Houston native and LSU alum haha

What exactly was found with Aiken's elbow? Are we talking likely Tommy John in the near future?
Posted on 7/11/14 at 3:05 pm to Brageous
I'm not overly worried because the only way the Stros can get Marshall is if Aiken signs but well under his $7.9 mill slot value. The Stros are currenly offering $5 mill, after a physical was done revealing ligament damage in Aikens elbow. Even then, the Stros really like Nix. Say Aiken does sign for $5 mill, that leaves them roughly $3 mill to work with, but Nix's number is $1.5 mill and Marshall's rumored number is $2-2.5 mill. The numbers are very very hard to work, as you can see, and it is all contingent on Aiken taking a low ball offer, one he will most likely not accept.

No real details were released, reports just said an "elbow ligament". But it sounds like structural damage to the UCL, meaning rehab attempt followed by Tommy John's if rehab doesnt work. Aiken was in Houston ready to sign and have his press conference, but had a physical that revealed this damage, or so the reports say.

how sad will pm be if this happens

He'll probably stop spouting off to the media about being so freakin optimistic about getting his recruits to not sign.
