Ohhh, so how did clock management in late games improve from Ole Miss 2009 to the 2010 football year?

Well, I can think of three colossal clock frick ups inside of two minutes in the last two seasons.

We had the luck of 10 leprechauns last year. Not solid coaching that won those games. UNC dropped a pass in the endzone, Tennessee had too many players for some stupid reason, we had a perfect bounce with a ball less than round for Florida ... and i'm sure there's more bullshite i can't even think of.

We lost 4 and 5 games the two previous years and weren't far from doing it again last year without the purple and gold glasses on.

UF also had quite a few lucky breaks to remain in that game.

UT we definitely lucked out, but don't get into the business of "welllll if this didn't happen we lose this game" You can do that bullshite with any team, its football.

like I said in my previous, I was shaking at my head at the debacle last night. But, in reality, you have to judge a guy by his WINS and post-season season, both of which Miles has had a lot of success at.

That's like firing a salesman who is ranked in the top 10 in the country b/c you don't like how he gives his presentations. and Yes, I would rank Les as a top 10 coach. Remember, coaching is more than calling timeouts. It's putting the best players on the field, hiring the best assistants, working hard on the recruiting trail, WINNING football games

disagree, LSU looked like the better team the whole game, Florida stayed in it though. Outcoached LSU to take the lead in the last few minutes. Then Meyer, if he had just not blizted after the fake fg, LSU would've had to kick another one just to tie it and go into overtime.

At the end of the game, LSU escaped against teams they should have beaten easily. That's the point. UF was bad last year and UNC practically had every starter missing.

A bullshite holding call with 10 min left was the only reason that game was even close at the end

A few STs gaffs and I forget what else left UF hanging around. I'll have to rewatch that game for specifics though

Les def should get blame for that UNC game, mostly for pulling starters when we didn't have the game in hand.

3 out of 5 years at least ... and last year is iffy. Yeah we won, but damn it was ugly.

Look, i get the point, the man won last year. My argument is that the games resembled the 08 and 09 seasons ... not a team winning with confidence. (exception was A&M game)

If you had to choose to undergo surgery from a surgeon that has had one screw up in ten years and was sued versus . . .

A surgeon that has had ten screw ups in one year but was never sued . .

which one would you choose?

A young defensive backfield made a few careless errors in the 1st game of the season that allowed UNC back in it.

Now the offense taking their foot off the pedal is a miles problem yes.

Yea man, you know ... the year we lost 5 games.
LINK

We won last year, but it was brutally ugly ... and we weren't far from losing 5 games.

Thank god we weren't allowing 40 pts. a game though.

Go ask anyone who knows about sports what comes to mind when you say "Les Miles". It isn't his bowl record. It's not his national championship that he got thanks to Pelini and a shitload of talent he inherited. Its not his ability to correct mistakes for damn sure.

It's his inability to manage games in critical situations, his retarded manor in which he speaks, and his overall cluelessness that people think about. It'll take a few more titles to make people think differently including LSU fans.

Give the guy a QB and maybe he can turn it around. I still don't blame Crowtown for everything and expect a full 180 this year. Still the same head coach with the same QB. Don't be fooled. Just be optimistic.

Aside from Bama, we got BLOWN OUT by every top ten team we played and finished the season losing to 4-7 Arkansas

Just as ugly as losing by 3+ tds?

Great comparison, man

And then the next play Jordan Jefferson with an intentional grounding penalty moving us out of FG range.

If we kicked a FG there, game over.

This is why I'm not optimistic about a NC this year. We really did get lucky in 07 with 2 losses, it was just fortunate everyone else was losing. This year we have practically one of the hardest schedules in the SEC. Miles has shown inability to manage clock situations. We should've lost Florida/Tenn last year but didn't. That was some of the craziest luck I've ever seen in a game...a perfect bounce on a complete clusterfrick and our clusterfrick against Vols confused them...

Anyways, I've accepted Miles for what he is. A mediocre gameday coach that needs to be surrounded by excellent assistants. He is a good recruiter. Hopefully Krag is a big improvement over Crowton, otherwise, we're going nowhere this year.

BTW, the Miles game management has been a problem since he got here. Not just the past two years. Remember this?
