Marshall Faulk, because he may have come here if we didn't view him as a db. I think we were at least recruiting the others, they just chose elsewhere.

I would think it would be Marshall Faulk which would give LSU another Hall of Famer. He made the Rams look real good for awhile.
Thanks Marshall.

You serious bro? The Joe McKnight metldown is so funny because he was the best player we didn't need

I agree 100%. I'm just saying what I witnessed. It was hilarious but that was the attitude: the beginning of the fence that Saban built was falling.

But the question leading up to the 2007 signing day was if we would lock up McKnight, who was the #1/#2 overall recruit thus the similarity to LF.

Any Ole Timers know Terry Bradshaw's story? I've always been curious how ended up at Tech. I just assumed that we passed for some reason.

Yeah in hindsight missing McKnight and Janzen turned out fine. Just at the time it was a big deal.

Back in Bradshaw's day, all state universities had open admissions. There were no qualifications other than a H/S diploma and a body temperature of 98.6. Yes, we had to take the ACT, but no score excluded you. I think over the years, Bradshaw has used the "couldn't get in" as self deprecating humor. He was a stud QB in HS but on truth, he was a No. Louisiana country boy and Tech was close to home. Also, he played at Tech with a couple of his HS receivers.
I like the fact that he always talks up all things Louisiana anytime he gets a chance.

To Anthony Thomas add "went to Michigan where he set career rushing and TD records and was the NFL Offensive rookie of the year". LSU did recruit him but they waited until his Sr. year. That was after rushing for over 2K as a soph. and as a Jr. Michigan had been recruiting him since his soph. Year.

I agree that Peyton is the best choice. He was at UT from 94-97 right? He didn't start in 94. 95 was Dinardo's first year at LSU and for the next three years LSU went 7-4-1, 10-2 and 9-3. Clearly the cupbard wasn't bare at that point. Adding Manning might have been just the thing to turn those seasons into 9-3, 11-1 and 12-0.
