has there ever been any legit discussion on the tigers playing southern for an OOC game one year. I know it would be a blow out but it would be cool to watch and would bring a lot of fans. SIAP

ETA: this is for football

I think Southern has lobbied for it, but LSU knows it would be a waste of time.

What benefit would it be for LSU to pummel SU, and what benefit would it be for SU to be pummeled? Besides monetary.

Hurts our strength of schedule too much to murder the jags 70 to 0.

A spring game type of scrimmage could be interesting, but ultimately it would still be a waste of time.

No way. The last thing you'd want is a starter for LSU going down because some jacknut from SU had to prove how awesome he was in a scrimmage.

This, but LSU has played McNeese and NW State. If your play them why not the Jags or SLU for that matter.

I agree it doesn't benefit LSU in anyway. Only way I see it happening is if as has happened in the past. Someone on the schedule backs out at the last minute and LSU is left scrabbling to fill the spot. I would much rather pay a in state school to come to death valley rather than a out of state team. If they are forced to go the 1-AA route.

I do wish there were instate scrimmages. We could scrimmage La Tech. ULM vs ULL, Tulane vs Southern, Grambling vs Northwestern, Nichols vs South Eastern / LC.

is that everyone?

I don't like playing any of those directional schools. Let them sink or swim on their own merits, and not riding LSU's coattails.

LSU doesn't have anything left to prove in-state. There are plenty of schools from other states that deserve a pummeling.

You won't see that for a lot of reasons. But mostly cause most of these teams are rivals.
SLU and Nichols play the river bell classic to close the season every year.

Won't happen. It won't benefit LSU because they'll have to dish out about $450,000 to Southern for a rent-a-win(That's how much UGA is paying SU to come to Athens in 2014.) Its too risky and it won't generate any money for the city's economy.

Southern and the SWAC are a joke.
