I grew up in Pensacola, Florida and the end of the year match was always the Florida/FSU game.

The 2 teams were always Florida or the Gators and FSU or the Seminoles or'noles.

I called FSU.

ASU, UCLA, USF other schools also go by their acronyms..

But LSU is LSU. I always wondered why the street by my old house is called Louisiana State and not LSU. (university city)

I guess the closest would be Leland Stanford Junior University, but somehow LS(Jr.)U doesn't have that same feel.
