I do not think anyone is stating it but it would help with Monroe recruiting. It would be beyond stupid to hire an o-line coach for recruiting. Just hire another recruiter/assistant coach for that.

I met Rob one night out at the old Belle of Baton Rouge Casino in the early 2000's and I played blackjack with he and Eric Edwards. He is one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. He seemed to have a great personality.
He started at least one year at LSU under Saban at guard.

All of the coaches have recruiting responsibilities. Some by position, some by geographic area.
Why would it be "beyond stupid" to assign an assistant coach who is a native of NE Louisiana to that area to recruit in addition to his position coaching duties?

So if this guy is only being used for the recruiting angle. Who will actually coach our OLine?
Well he did turn around the McNeese O line in one year. Plus he did it with two D-Linemen that he converted to O-linemen. They only gave up like 7 sacks

I haven't watched mcneese in a while but don't they run the option?

Former LSU lineman.... seems like a solid choice for an interview.
Good politics, good young coach and former player from NE LA. But I would bet this decision has already been made.

dude is a Saban lover and has criticized Miles in the past....granted, 200-300K a yr would change that, but i'd pass on the alum....better candidates out there!!

Mutli Pro - style, run first offense (I formation and single back). Pretty much have run that for years except for around 07-09 where they ran some spread offense too.

They threw for over 3000 yards on close to 400 attempts.

When did he criticize?
Dude is a true tiger, and his Dad has a nice LSU store to boot.

Right. I mean why would we want a hungry former LSU Offensive lineman from Monroe singing the praises of the advantages of playing at the state's flagship university?
One would think starting 2.5 years on the offensive line would provide experience. It's not rocket science.

I don't know him personally but I worked with his brother-in-law for a number of years. He worked at bama as an assistant after graduating and playing OL at lsu. Would say that he is more than moderately connected to north la. Might help recruiting that area, not sure that he's the hire to coach up the OL at this point. I think we are all looking for that big name guy that is gonna come in and have an immediate impact on developing the guys we already have and securing the guys we seek out in the future.

I always thought he was a little of an overachiever
Generally they make the best coaches
It's the difference between Michael Jordan not understanding why you can't do what he could vs someone telling you how to maximize talent
