Dream on home boy. To be a great QB u have to have a coach that knows how to coach them up.

We recruit top talent and land them. That's not the issue. The issue is recruiting the right top talent for your system. We have continued to recruit and sign spread QB's to play in our pro style offense, thus the slow progression to grasp the style of play and the playbook. And, to be honest, the spread recruit may not be able to adapt or, if he does adapt, may not make a great pro style QB. I believe Franks is the answer we've been waiting for. Mett did well because he was a pro style QB. I can only imagine a more athletic Franks being much better than Mett. Very much look forward to his arrival.

With all the athletes we have at every skill position, we have everything to make a QB successful and put up big numbers! Schools like LSU and Bama should have top QB's every year, but that's not the case.

2010-2015 Bama
- #4 Pro style, #4 pro style, #2 pro style, #1 pro style
- four top 100 players, two top 40 players

LSU 2009-2015
- #3 dual, #1 dual (Mett was the #1 JUCO pro)
- 2 top 100 players, 1 top 5 player, Mett was #4 in JUCO

If you are talking about top players, Bama has gotten them recently (three top 4 pro style in the last 4 years). LSU will catch up with the help of Cam, if he is not fired after this year (I believe we turn it around though).

I think kids are afraid of not developing, but moreso, playing in a boring offense where they can't put up good stats. There are several pro style schools where they can put up real good numbers and be surrounding by good-great receiving talent and run games.

USC, FSU, UGA, Michigan St, Bama, all fall into this category.

Bama
People can say what they want about McCarron, but he put up over 9000 yards and 80 TDs in 3 years as a starter and one year as a backup. He posted back to back 2900+ 28+ TD seasons. Sims just put up nearly 3500 yards and 28 TDs last year (3200 yards 26 TDs in 13 games. They had one year in the past 5 where they didn't put up at least 3050 and 24 TDs, and that year they had a sophomore getting his first start and his backup was a freshman (2800 yards 16 TDs) . LSU has only one year in the past 5 where we put up at least 3050 yards and 22 TDs, that was with a former JUCO 5th year senior.

MSU
has only one bad year in the past 5 where they failed to put up at least 3070 yards and 23 TDs, and that was with a bad junior and a freshman backup (2725 yards 14 TDs 52.%).

The rest are self explanatory.

When we can show consistent production and development, they will flock to LSU.

Does it matter? He is legit and will finish out a top 3 QB and 5 star. The only reason he is classified as dual threat is because of his athleticism. He only had 25 carries last year as a junior (for an impressive 425 yards mind you).

Since Cameron has been here LSU has seen an influx of talent at the QB position he's worked with one guy that had the talent and experience together and we had one of the best passing offenses in LSU history. Give it time people!! This doesn't happen immediately especially with freshman QBs which is what we have had. Some of the others just didn't work out. How about LSU fans leave this crap alone for 2 or 3 more years and revisit if still the case then? I bet you my last dime it won't be an issue or at least not the fault of coaching, developing, or recruiting. Some may get hurt and that might hurt a season down the road but I bet if no bad luck comes we will be just fine at QB. So just sit back relax and watch the game.

I do believe that Les and Cam either have to make sure that LSU has the experience needed to play the position in their offense or change it to fit what we do have at that particular time. Then if the guy matures enough to run the pro offense go back to it. This may or may not help but at least we would see them trying to do something about it. Cam has the knowledge and experience to do this and I believe he even commented on this at some point last year so I expect to see a difference this year if not in the player in the style of coaching for that player. Then if one year we have that guy to run his pro style the way he wants then do that. It would throw teams off at the very least. We have the versatility in the personnel to do it, backs, WRs, TEs, OL, ect. I do agree to that but to say we aren't getting top QBs isn't true. I think they thought these guys would learn and get better as the season went on and the ground game/Defense would win us other games but that isn't going to cut it. We'll see I guess?

Bama has had top notch qb's since 2008 and Sims was real good last year as a 1st year starter in a new system........... LSU has had ONE top notch starter in the last years..Mett........ But the reason top notchqbs won't come to LSU is based on how the coaching staff uses them.......

If you want to be prepared for the NFL as a quarterback, you go to LSU, because the LSU offense is very similar to your generic NFL offense. Sadly, many of these guys go to schools with gimmicky offenses that score 60 points a game. They don't learn the fundamentals and end up shitting the bed in the pros.

If I was a top notch QB and wanted to take my skills to a school where I could air it our 30-40 times a game, I wouldn't come to LSU. It's not who we are. Its really not that complicated.

Top qbs don't play hs football in LA. And really I'm tired of seeing this shite. LSU doesn't offer anymore than other schools around the country. There really isn't a reason for them to come here over anywhere else.

A 5th year sr, like Matt Flynn. First year starter, new system.

I would argue they really have had one top notch guy. Mccarron. And they let one of their own go to FSU and win a heisman and national title.

It's really just this simple.

Replacing a departing starter at QB has been a tremendous dropoff every time its happened because for one reason or another, the heir apparent is only a year removed from high school ball.

We need to be patient and allow Jennings and Harris the opportunity to adjust to the scheme we run and the pace of the game. Switching to a simpler offense with no reads really isn't the answer because then you'll never have a QB who can run our system.

But good luck convincing this fanbase to wait 2-3 years.

This is more of a Coach Miles issue as for recruiting good QBs or developing them. LSU is not developing once M. Mauck, J. Russell and M. Flynn left. The other administration knew what they were doing, while at LSU.

Under Coach Miles, this has been a constant challenged. People need to stop hiding behind RP as the failure for Miles' development of quarterbacks. Fans are tired of the Jefferson and Lee days, and we made excuses for them as well.

Ohio State made no damn excuses when B. Miller went down with an injury. Then Barrett went down with an injury. Guess what? C. Jones went in and got it down in the two biggest games of the year, the College Football Playoff and Championship Game. This is more about player development and good coaching.

LSU is not doing that now. The Tigers received a gift when they signed Mettenberger. Cam player development has to show this year. Nationally, LSU is known for "Ground and Pound" and it does hurt their recruitment of Top QBs. Either B. Harris or F. Franks can change this issue for the Tigers moving forward between 2015 or 2016.
