With all the athletes we have at every skill position, we have everything to make a QB successful and put up big numbers! Schools like LSU and Bama should have top QB's every year, but that's not the case.

i understand where you're coming from, but louisiana doesn't produce a lot of pure quarterbacks. the high school system ran here is put your best athlete under/behind center so he has the ball every play.

Not trying to be negative, just was having a discussion with a friend an it got brought up its not only LSU but Bama to both of us land big time QB's once in a while, but not consistently.

the kid from cali was a top 100 qb...jennings was a top 100 qb...harris was a top 100 qb....mett was the top juco player in the country. I think it has more to do with development then lack of talent.

In that context then consider big time quarterbacks want to be the feature of the offense. Nether LSU or Bama feature the quarterback . They play to run, win in the trenches, and play defense

Harris is a top guy and Franks is the 2nd overall qb in his class.

Like people said, it's not like LSU hasn't gotten highly rated recruits. It's not only development, but evaluation. I mean if they got a guy like Mariota, even Les couldn't screw that up.

Not only that but I think our OL has never lived up to expectations when we did have a very good QB (like Mett's years).

Some QBs are afraid of competition and chose lesser schools. Expectations in the SEC are quite different than that of other conferences. The SEC expects its QBs to win not just perform.

I remember this one time, LSU had a prized recruit named Anthony Jennings. Before he arrived on campus all the LSU fans thought he was a great prep QB and that he would win 6 brisk an trophies.

QBs are hard to project. A lot of great ones are not highly recruited coming out of HS.

They don't want to come here and run a pro style offenses. They would rather go somewhere where they can throw the ball and run it themselves if they get in trouble, "aka" the spread offense. No football genius here, but even I can see what is going on. They don't want to hand the ball off 3 times the amount they will throw it.

There are numerous variations of the spread already in this league.

I didn't know that LSU QB's had to play high school ball in Louisiana. I did not know that.
