I aint gonna lie...I don't like his brother and my judgemental side wants me to think this stupid streak runs in the family BUT, I feel, just the way this report sounded, that RJ may have gotten screwed by some gung-ho cop.

My feelings as well.

I don't even mind him getting in this fight. If the story is his buddy was minding his own business and some dude just starts beating on him without identifying himself prior as a cop, I'm glad RJ came to the aid of his friend.

Being charged with a felony is no small matter. How where they issued misdeamoner summons to court, not taken to jail, and the jefferson da ups the charges to a felony. Seems kinda crazy.

It's amazing that this is the only only issue that could possibly get you to side with the cops.

You are the worst.

But Rickey needs to be careful & try his best to avoid getting into any situations that may even remotely have a chance to lead to similar problems in the future.

You want him to enter a monastery?

You holier-than-thou types are ridiculous. He is a high school senior, he was at a Mardi Gras parade. Probably had a Natty Lite or two. He was with his friends and something happened and you so called adults are ready to tar and feather him.

I'm so glad that all of you are so perfect now and have always been perfect.

not that I'm perfect or anything, but I know a ton of people who never broke the law by underage drinking or punching a cop.

Being 17 or 18 doesn't give one free reign to do whatever they want and then claim immaturity.

ETA: BTW, I think the cops screwed up in this situation and hope the charges get thrown out.

The statements made by the pro-RJ crowd certainly didn't add up. They had no idea that he was a cop, and yet the cop "literally" ripped RJ's shirt off? Really? Does that really make sense to anyone?

A big tip off to me was that they didn't even bother mentioning the main part of the story--i.e. that the cop was busy trying to handcuff someone else when he needed to tell someone to back away and stop interfering.

Does anybody really think that a cop would just invent a non-existent person to bolster his story about something that happened to a newsworthy person in the middle of a crowd at a big public event?

Just use your heads, people. The kids knew he was a cop from the start, and are lying.

Then you must have been raised in an alternate dimension. I don't know of any high school students that haven't at least tried alcohol and that includes me, my sons and my grand sons.

I also think that you would have to look hard and wide to find your perfect abstainer.

Punching a cop, or anyone isn't smart, but if the cop didn't identify himself, he doesn't get a free pass either.

Being 18 doesn't excuse dumb behavior, but it does explain it. And furthermore it isn't isolated to LSU football players.

I'll just sit back and listen to the beating of the angel wings on the guys that are so quick to bust a kid for something pretty damn small.

"the report and stories surrounding it are sketchy"

His last name being Jefferson is not sketchy

That one is tough to figure out. So, is the story that some random guy with handcuffs was doing some attack S&M on his friend, and therefore never identified himself as a cop? I'm sure the details will come out, and neither side of the argument will be believed.
