There is going to be an massive influx of really, really good coaches into the SEC.

Mullen at Florida will be deadly as well.

SEC needed a shake up. This past year was embarrassing relative to our recent standards.

Didn't Alabama play them as well? What's your point?

Les Miles had his shot at these same coaches & he couldn’t get it done.

Couldn't get WHAT done?

Miles' LSU teams were 8-3 against this set of coaches.

Miles V Sumlin: 4-0
Miles V Freese: 2-1
Miles V McElwain: 1-0
Miles V Bielema: 1-2
Miles V Jones: 0-0

Which would mean that if this is true...

The notion that coaches are fired after 1 bad year & not the culmination of several bad years is laughable.

then is seems like that guy LSU fans like to rip on MAY HAVE had something to do with these guys getting canned, right? Miles straight up owned A&M even while Manziel was there running rampant across the SEC. With the exception of Bielama's Arky squad which played LSU tough and Jones who he did not get to face, Miles beat all these guys.

The point the OP was making is true. It just depends on what you want to take away from it. Does the fact that LSU was lucky enough to face this many teams in chaos and beat them mean that Orgeron's wins are bad? Not necessarily. You can only play the schedule, team, players and coaches on your slate.

But can you automatically pat him on the back, give him a raise, an extension and a long loving blowjob because they didn't tank after getting fricking throttled by State and losing to Troy based on the overall record alone...when you know it was at least partially buoyed by playing a historically bad run of SEC teams? Also...probably not.

Anyone taking a hard-line stance on either side of that point is just not being intellectually honest with themselves. Anything less or more than cautiously optimistic seems like a bad take I think.

FWIW, my feelings about this project of ours have never wavered. Ultimately I'm afraid it's going to fail, but I was as surprised as everyone else that things looked so bad so fast early. The fact that they turned things around is great, but ultimately does little to change what I worry about for the program, which is a fall off after Orgeron has to start replacing Canada and Arranda. But that's another subject that's been hashed to death as well...

Les Miles hasn’t won 6 SEC games in the last 4 years. O did it in year 1 against the same coaches

8-3 isn’t good when the 3 losses are all to teams that are worse than you. 3-3 isn’t good vs ole miss & Ark

There were never as many SEC teams (on our schedule) doing so bad at the same time during Miles tenure as there were this year. As somebody already said you can't really conclude much about Orgeron from his final 2017 record. He got a great win against Auburn but Troy...

And the real question is did we get the improvement we were looking for by making the coaching change? Not so far.

Les Miles isn’t gone because he couldn’t beat bama. It was because he couldn’t beat the teams he was supposed to

Meaning 9-3 (6-2 SEC conference) is a fluke job. This is the mountain top for O. Only downhill from now

Thank goodness we didn't play Vandy and Kentucky instead of Florida and Tennessee. Then we would have only played 2.

It's awful and for this reason alone, no SEC school should be considered for the playoff! Dumbass!

Get beat by a D line coach would be cause for dismissal if I was a AD.
But, the point is the teams that fired coaches are hiring better coaches than what we have. The consensus around college football is that because of Mullen being hired Florida will be damn hard to beat in the future. I beat not a single person said that when we hired O! We’ll see?
