What was the deal with LSU and the O-line not wearing knee braces? Is this some sort of strategy? I heard Mascona (before Miles roasted him) ask the question to Miles, but didn't have the opportunity to hear the response and explanation.

Also, I did a search, but the search function on this site freaking sucks.

Supposedly Grimes used to require it and now he doesnt. Players dont wear them because they are uncomfortable.

Yes. And they don't prevent much. They aren't worth wearing.

There's a number of studies that are out and I mean to the tune of five that talk about knee braces and the percentage being not necessarily 100% everybody should have knee braces on.

I think shoulders have nothing to do with knee braces, and cramps have nothing to do with knee braces and I think that there's probably some evidence with studies out there that say that the knee brace as worn in a game is relatively negligent.

I was wondering about this as well. Does anyone know if most other teams wear them? What about NFL teams? I looked for pictures of the Saints OL and didn't notice them. Just curious what everyone else is doing.

Moscona attention seeking. Nothing to see here...

ETA: We didn't give up a sack, ran the ball well and pretty much everyone is expected to be back for Auburn. This is much to do about nothing.

I don't think any were a knee injury. What would the brace have prevented?

I've seen a lot of teams wear them. I remember for a long stretch USC made their O-Line wear them and their QB wear one on their plant leg.

I'm no expert on it but I remember hearing a bit about the review linked below. To your point, seems pretty limited with not such a great outcome for the brace proponents. The NFL could easily invest some $$ in studying something like this and get more definitive answers but that might negatively effect someone's bottom line.

Yes. Yes I did. I played with a knee brace and I played without one. From my experience I don't see that they add much protection. They are bulky and a pain in the arse. I'd love to know how many of the experts on here saying how great they are ever played O-line.

My experiences are a little different considering my knee surgeries, but I wouldn't have made it through my senior season without one.

They add negligible protection to lateral impacts. For the most part, they are more for specific issues. My injury was dispite braces.

Yes. I played oline.

I played rugby two years in college with no pads and never sustained any injury whatsoever, for whatever that's worth.
